Chapter Six: The Day After

Lori and Jessica were walking around the mall when Lori saw Jesse, Matt, Greg, Chris and Frankie heading in their direction. Lori stared at Matt and Jesse then looked away. She didn't want them to know that she was there, especially the way she told Matt's girlfriend off. Then again, she was glad she finally stood up for somebody. Besides, she was usually quiet anyway.

"I think we're going to run into them everywhere now," Lori said sarcastically.

"Hey Lorr," Chris said with a smile. She gave a small smile then Jesse asked, "Feeling any better babe?"

"I'm feeling OK," Lori confessed.

"Lorr----about Brittany----"Matt began.

"Don't apologize," Lori cut him off.

"No. I---After what happened yesterday----I don't know. I felt guilty. You haven't done anything to us and Brittany had no right to treat you the way she did," Matt said.

"And I want you to know that I broke up with her."

"Why'd you break up with her?" Lori asked out of curiosity.

"Because she---I don't know. She treated you really bad yesterday and everything. It was wrong of her and----"Matt said. He broke off in the middle of his sentence. "She used me and everything. I guess it was too good to be true."

"Why'd you really break up with her Matt?" Greg asked eyeing him.

"Because she treats people like crap and it was getting on my nerves. I had to end it," Matt said. Greg looked at him and said, "Try again Matt."

"It's your personal life and it's none of my business," Lori cut in. Matt looked at her and said, "It may not be any of your business, but I want you to know the truth, even though I barely know you."

"You don't know me at all Matt so keep your personal life to yourself. Like I said---It's none of my business and according to Brittany, it's none of my business either," Lori told him.

"We should leave them alone," Jessica said when she realized they were staring at each other with weird facial expressions that anyone would misinterpret.
