Chapter Fifteen: Ashley and Jesse
It was the same night and Jesse was sitting at home listening to Craig David when he heard the phone ring. Hoping it was Ashley he immediately got up and picked up the phone. He answered it and said, "Hello."
"Hi. Is this Jesse?" The voice said.
"This is Jesse."
"It's Ash," The girls' voice said.
"Hey Ash," Jesse said happily.
"Guess what?" She asked excitedly.
"What?" He inquired.
"I'm going to a concert this Saturday. I got backstage passes, too," Ashley bragged.
"To our concert?"
"No. I got tickets to see Aaron Carter," she said even more excitedly.
"You're going to an Aaron Carter concert?"
"Yeah. Isn't that great?"
"Oh. Yeah. Great." He rolled his eyes and said, "So I take it you didn't hear about our concert this weekend."
"Well, I did. I was thinking that I could meet you after the concert backstage and we could go back to my hotel and hang out for a little while," Ashley suggested.
"You're blowing off my concert to go see Aaron Carter?"
"It's not blowing off your concert Jesse. You know that. It's just---I forgot about your concert," Ashley said trying to remain innocent and sweet.
"How do you forget about your boyfriend's concert, Ashley?" Jesse asked.
He waited for a response then he thought back to Lori for a few seconds. He started to remember how hurt she was and his stomach filled with butterflies when he thought about the way she made him feel when he was near her......he accidently pressed the wrong button, disconnecting Ashley and him. He left his room and went downstairs then snuck out the front door. He knew exactly where he was going; he was heading to Lori's and Jessica's house a couple blocks away.
"Jesse?" A voice asked. Jesse jumped about 10 feet and saw that it was Ashley who had said his name. He walked over to her and said, "What are you doing here Ashley?"
She took his hand and said, "I came to see you. Why else would I come over here?"
"I can't talk long. I need to go somewhere."
"At 9:00 at night?" she asked dumbfounded.
"Yeah. I got to go. See ya." He walked off leaving Ashely standing there on his front yard then he stopped. He thought for a few minutes (about how he treated Lori, about how he had treated his friends badly and everything else) then he turned around, heading towards Ashley.
"Change your mind?"
"I'm sorry, but I can't see you anymore Ash."
"WHAT? WHY?" Ashley asked in complete shock.
"I'm just not happy anymore."
"Is it something I did?"
"Ashley.....please. Just leave. I have to go and I don't want you getting in trouble. SO GO!" Tears in Ashley's eyes builded up and soon were cascading down her cheeks. She walked off and disappeared around the corner. Jesse headed in the opposite direction---right towards Lori's house. When he reached it he saw that a bedroom light was still on.
He knocked on the door and waited for somebody to answer it.
A couple minutes later he heard footsteps coming towards the front door and the door opened. It was Lori. "Jesse, what are you doing here?" She asked him. She unlocked the door and shut it behind her.
"I needed to see you."
"You have got to be kidding me. Jesse, quit lying. Go see Ashley." She started to shut the door but Jesse prevented her from doing that.
