My, How.....- Chapter Two
Narrator: They walked down the corridor, holding hands, and talking when they ran into their friends- Chris, Matt, Jesse, Frankie, Jessica and Tanya. Greg looked over at Lori, who was looking at him the way no girl had ever looked at him before. The look in her eyes scared him, but that didn't lost long when he realized he was looking at her the same way.
Chris: Are you two going out?
Narrator: Greg didn't answer and neither did Lori. They were too busy staring at each other liked they loved each other. He couldn't help himself so he leaned over and gently placed a kiss on her lips. She kissed him back, but then they broke away.
Jesse: Does that answer your question?
Narrator: Jesse looked over at Chris. The other guys and the two girls were in complete shock. They couldn't believe their eyes.
Chris: They just met!!!
Guys: No shit.
Girls: How can they be going out already? They just met each other.
Jesse: It probably won't last long. It's probably just a fling. They're gonna hook up then they're gonna go their separate ways.
Narrator: Lori looked at Jesse in disbelief, she couldn't believe what she was hearing and neither could Greg.
Greg: We like each other and if you guys have a trouble with them that then screw you.
Lori: Greg.
Greg: Yeah?
Lori: You wanna go walk around?
Greg: Yeah. Let's go.
Narrator: He shot his friends an evil glare then dissapeared with his new girlfriend, who he really really liked.
Greg: Don't worry about them Lorr. They're just jealous.
Lori: I'm not really worried about them. I just can't believe they said those mean things right in front of us.
Greg: Yeah I know...just don't pay any attention to them. All that matters is how we feel about each other and that we're together...nobody's gonna break us up.
Lori: Nobody?
Greg: (staring into her beautiful blue eyes filled with love and adoration) NOBODY.
Lori: Good because I really don't want to lose you.
Greg: You won't....just as long as I don't lose you.
Lori: You won't lose me. EVER. I'm here to stay.
Greg: Good.
Narrator: He smiled at her, which made her smile back at him. Then they kissed each other but parted. She changed the subject.
Lori: How are your sisters?
Narrator: Greg stared at her in amazement.
Greg: My sisters are doing good. They'd love you. (pause) Do you have any siblings?
Lori: One younger brother Nick. He's 13.
Greg: So is Amanda. She's 13, too.
Lori: That's cool. I bet my brother would like her.
Narrator: Greg just smiled at her.
Greg: I'm sure she would like him, too.
Lori: Yeah.
Greg: Are you busy tonight?
Lori: No.
Greg: You wanna go out to eat then the movies? My treat.
Lori: Sounds good, but I'm buying the movie tickets.
Greg: No, it's my treat!!! Please babe. Let me do this. It'll make me really happy.
Lori: Greg.
Greg: What?
Lori: I don't wanna be spoiled. I can buy the movie tickets.
Greg: You said you wanted to be treated like a princess though and I want to treat you like one.
Lori: You have to draw the line somewhere though Greg. I mean, I don't want you thinking that I'm completely helpless because I'm not.
Greg: Yeah I know. I just....I want to do this. Let me do it. Besides, I owe you one for saving me from all those crazy fans.
Lori: If you really want to....
Greg: I really want to.
Narrator: She sat down on a nearby bench and he sat beside her, slipping his arm around her shoulders. She leaned over and kissed his cheek then shied away. OH MY GOD! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME!!!, she thought to herself.
Greg: So will you let me?
Lori: If it'll make you happy and if you really want to....then OK, but Greg....I don't want you feeling like you have to spend all your money on me. I mean, I'm not looking for that...I just wanna be with you. Being with you and you are the only things I care about. I don't care about the material things.
Greg: Are you sure you're a Dream Street fan?
Lori: Who told you I was a Dream Street fan?
Narrator: They just looked at each other, with love in their eyes.
Greg and Lori: Jessica.
Greg: Yeah. She said that you loved us more than anything and all this other stuff like you think you have to be a Britney Spears clone to get a guy to notice you....Lorr, why do you think that?
Lori: I can't believe this. I can't believe she said that to you.
Greg: She was just explaining to us why you were so shy and quiet and stuff because we were really curious. So why do you think that?
Lori: Think that I have to be a Britney Spears clone?
Greg: Yeah.
Lori: Because guys love the hot girls. Because guys like the thin girls...I don't know...the entertainment industry is sending out the wrong message to teenage girls. No wonder why some teenage girls have eating disorders....those stupid magazines and the pressure to be thin.
Greg: The girls in those magazines are so fake though. I mean, they have enhancers and they air brush those models. None of those models are perfect. They all have flaws. Everybody does. (pause) And I don't want you to be like those models. I like you just the way you are. You're not fake. You're real...and I haven't met a girl like that in such a long time. I forgot the last time I met a real girl like you.
Lori: Have I told you how much I love you?
Narrator: Greg smiled as she blushed from embarrassment, but Greg just hugged her.
Greg: Love you too.
Lori: You don't have to say it just 'cuz I did.
Greg: I know, but I wanted to say it anyway. I would have eventually.
Lori: So umm....how long are you in New Hampshire?
Greg: A few weeks.
Lori: I guess that's better than a couple days.
Greg: You scared of what will happen when we go back to New York?
Lori: Y- Yeah.
Greg: Nothing's going to happen when we go back to New York. I want to make this relationship work. I really do. I don't want to lose you just 'cuz of the long distance.
Lori: Nothing could take me away from you. I'm crazy about you. I have been for the longest time.
Greg: You're one sweet girl.
Lori: I only get sweeter.
Greg: I bet.
Lori: So umm....
Greg: When we go back to New York will you come with me?
Narrator: Lori looked at him and wondered if he was serious or joking, but by the look on his face she could tell that he was serious.
Lori: You're serious?
Greg: Yeah I am.
Lori: What if something happens to us during the few weeks that you're here? What if we get into a huge fight or something and you want nothing to do with me?
Greg: It's going to take something a lot worse than that to keep me away from you and for me to want nothing to do with you. And if we get into a huge fight, well, we could always have a lot of fun making up.
Narrator: He smiled at her and she smiled back.
Lori: You are so incredible.
Greg: Yeah you're pretty incredible too.
Lori: Thanks.
Greg: (smiling) Anytime. (pause) So um...are you spending the night at Jessica's or somethin'?
Lori: No. We haven't really talked about it. Why?
Greg: 'Cuz I was wondering if you could stay with me tonight.
Lori: With you...in your hotel room?
Greg: Yeah.
Lori: I don't know. My parents might not like that idea.
Greg: I'm not gonna like try anything even though I might have the urge too. I'm not gonna pressure you to do anything. I'm not that kinda guy. (pause) It's probably a little early in the relationship to ask to meet your parents right?
Lori: Don't you meet the parents when the relationship turns into something extremely serious?
Greg: Yeah.
Lori: I don't know. If you wanna meet my parents you can.
Greg: I want to.
Lori: When?
Greg: Whenever.
Lori: Tonight? Tomorrow night? Three days from now? Five days from now? Two weeks from now? Three weeks from now?
Greg: Tonight.
Lori: You want to meet my parents tonight? Are you sure?
Greg: Yeah.
Lori: Hmm...maybe we could work somethin' out.
Greg: Lorr....
Lori: Yeah?
Greg: I l- love you.
Lori: I love you too. I always will.
Greg: Always?
Lori: ALWAYS.
Greg: I will always love you, too.
Lori: Do you think- Do you think that we're moving too fast?
Greg: You can't help the way you feel Lorr. You just have to trust your instincts and follow your heart.
Lori: Yeah, but I just don't want to move so fast that I end up losing you.
Greg: You won't.
Lori: How do you know?
Greg: 'Cuz I have faith. All you have to do is have faith, too. Have faith that everything will work out. If we're meant to be together, it'll happen even if our relationship is pushed to the absolute limit. Lorr, love will find a way.
Lori: That was touching.
Greg: Yeah. It touched me too.
Lori: Greg....if everything works out....do you think you could come back and visit me and stuff?
Greg: Definitely. (pause) Will you come and stay with me in New York?
Lori: When, like on your vacations and time off and stuff?
Narrator: Greg nodded.
Lori: Y- Yeah.
Greg: Sweet.
Lori: Very.
Narrator: Jesse, Jessica, Chris, Frankie, Matt and Tanya showed up just as they were about to kiss. She put her head on Greg's shoulder and made herself a little more comfortable, not caring that people nearby were watching her or the fact that her friends were looking at her.
Chris: Hey, um, can we talk to you guys for a couple minutes?
Greg: No.
Guys: Why not?
Greg: Because I don't wanna hear anything you have to say after you made those comments.
Chris: We're sorry.
Girls: We really are sorry. We just- we were surprised.
Greg: You guys still could have been a little more supportive. Instead, all you said was 'you guys just met' and stuff. Who cares if we just met? We like each other and want to be together. That's all that matters. And we can't help the way we feel. If you like somebody you can't just stop liking them. If you love somebody you can't just stop loving them. Sure you could try but what are the chances of it happening? Not very likely.
Frankie: OK. You're right.
Greg: Thank you.
Jessica: I knew Lori loved you. I just thought it would take a while before she opened up to you and stuff. Now that you two are going out...on the first day of meeting each other...it's shocking.
Lori: You're just surprised that a guy like Greg could be interested in a girl like me.
Jessica: That's not true and you know it.
Greg: She's a great girl. Why wouldn't I be interested?
Narrator: He looked down at Lori then at Jessica, wondering what her explanation was going to be.
Jessica: I'm just surprised that her dream came true the first day that she met you guys. I have no negative thoughts about you and Lori being together. I'm happy for both of you.
Greg: What dream? What are you talking about?
Jessica: She's had the biggest crush on you for like ever..she wanted to be with you...she wanted to hold you...she wanted to be the girl who loved you...she wanted to be with you more than anything. She loves you more than anything. She's crazy about you Greg. That was her dream.
Narrator: Greg smiled.
Greg: See...she is a great girl. She's the sweetest girl I've ever met in my life.
Chris: Is she for real?
Greg: Yeah she's for real.
Lori: Yeah I'm definitely for real.
Narrator: She looked up at Greg and kissed his cheek.
Lori: He's the greatest guy. He deserves the best.
Greg: I got the best. I got you.
Matt: You two are making me nauseous.
Greg: Sorry Matt, but I'm just being honest with her.
Lori: And that's definitely a good thing. I hate guys who lie.
Tanya and Jessica: We all do.
Lori: So are we cool now, Jess? Tee?
Tanya and Jessica: Yeah we're cool now. We were never even in a fight. We'll never fight.
Tanya: We never had a reason to fight.
Lori: Yeah I guess you're right.
Narrator: Greg held Lori a little tighter and closer and she buried her head in his chest and closed her eyes. She could feel his heart beating with hers. Matt, Chris, Jesse and Frankie just watched her.
Matt: Somebody's making themselves comfortable.
Greg: It's cool with me.
Matt: Yeah I bet it is.
Greg: What is that supposed to mean?
Matt: It's supposed to mean I bet it's cool with you, seeing how you have the hots for her.
Greg: Hmm...yeah.
Narrator: Greg chuckled.
Frankie: She looks exhausted.
Jessica: She is. She couldn't sleep last night because she was so nervous about today.
Greg: Nervous about today? What do you mean?
Jessica: Because she would finally get to meet the man of her dreams....YOU.
Greg: She was nervous about meeting me?
Lori: Y- Yeah.
Narrator: Greg looked down at her and her eyes were closed. She looked so peaceful. His Sleeping Beauty...his Cinderella. His one and only.
Greg: Are you less nervous now?
Lori: Yeah. You make me feel comfortable. I don't know what I was so scared of.
Greg: There's nothing to be scared of.
Lori: I know that now.
Narrator: Frankie and Tanya exchanged looks with one another as Jessica and Chris exchanged looks then Jesse and Matt exchanged looks. Lori and Greg looked so cute together and it made their group of friends wish that they were in relationships like that.
Greg: Good.
Lori: Yeah. Now I can finally relax.
Greg: Yeah.
Jesse: And he can help you.
Lori: Help me what?
Jesse: Help you relax.
Narrator: Jesse, Matt, Frankie and Chris all snickered.
Lori: Oh. Shut up you guys.
Greg: They've got sick minds.
Lori: Yeah they do. They probably think I'm some easy lay.
Narrator: Matt looked at her and shook his head.
Matt: No we don't Lori. We think you're a sweet girl and we're glad that Greg found somebody like you because he's been in the worst relationships. The girls treated him like shit.
Lori: Well now he's got a good girlfriend who will treat him the way he deserves to be treated.
Matt: Yeah. Right. Of course.
Narrator: She giggled.
Greg: Why are you giggling?
Lori: Because I just thought of something.
Greg: What'd you think of?
Lori: How happy I am that I'm with you.
Greg: I bet you're the happiest you've been in a long time.
Lori: Yeah. (pause) I thought of something else, too.
Greg: What else did you think of?
Lori: Well, while those girls treated you like shit like Matt says...
Greg: Yeah....?
Lori: They didn't treat you the way you should be treated.
Greg: And how should I be treated? In your opinion.
Lori: In my opinion, like a prince.
Greg: Sweet.
Narrator: A huge smile was plastered on his face. He couldn't believe how amazing she was.
Lori: Yep.
Greg: So are you gonna treat me like a prince?
Lori: Yeah.
Matt: I wanna be treated like a prince.
Greg: Well Lori's mine. Go find your own girl.
Narrator: Greg laughed. Matt stuck out his tongue and called him a loser.
Greg: I'm not a loser, dude.
Lori: No you're not.
Matt: If only I could find a girl who would treat me like a prince.....
Chris: How sweet would that be?
Matt: It'd be pretty sweet.
Narrator: Lori looked up at Greg, who was looking down at her.
Lori: My Prince Charming.
Narrator: The smile was still plastered on his face. He couldn't believe how happy she made him. This girl was incredible.
Greg: My Cinderella.
Matt: My, how I'm gonna be sick in a minute if y'all don't stop talkin' like that.
Chris: My, how Matt is jealous.
Jesse: My, how stupid y'all are actin'.
Jessica: My, how annoyin' this is.
Tanya: My, how stupid this is.
Greg: My, how I love her.
Lori: My, how I love him.
Narrator: The group burst out laughing and couldn't stop until they were in pain because they were laughing so hard. The people nearby just watched them then went about their business. Then the fun stopped. Louie, Claudia and Brian showed up and announced that it was time for them to get to FYE to get ready for the meet and greet.
