CHAPTER 1: SOMETHING STRANGE IS GOING ON
Lori screamed when she heard her favorite song "When I Come Around" by Green Day on the radio. She loved that song and whenever it came on the radio she would scream. She could be a little crazy when she wanted to be and she didn't care. At school she was quiet and mostly kept to herself. She only spoke when she was spoken to. She was a shy teenage girl, but when she was alone driving around the city of Rochester she acted insane.
"I heard you crying loud,
all the way across town
You've been searching for that someone,
and it's me out on the prowl
As you sit around feeling sorry for yourself
Don't get lonely now
Dry your whining eyes
I'm just roaming for the moment
Sleazin' my back yard so don't get so uptight
you been thinking about ditching me
No time to search the world around
Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around
I heard it all before
So don't knock down my door
I'm a loser and a user so I don't need no accuser
to try and slag me down because I know I'm right
So go do what you like
Make sure you do it wise
You may find out that your selfdoubt means nothing
was ever there
You can't go forcing something if it's just
not right
No time to search the world around
Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around
When I come around." She sang.
She danced in the vehicle and drummed her fingers on the steering wheel, banging her head to the beat.
"Damnit." She said angrily when the song was over. "I really like that song too."
Then she heard Simple Plan's "Perfect" which made her scream again.
"Hey Dad look at me
Think back and talk to me
Did I grow up according
To plan?
Do you think Im wasting
My time doing things I
Wanna do?
But it hurts when you
Disapprove all along
And now I try hard to make it
I just want to make you proud
Im never gonna be good
Enough for you
I cant pretend that
Im alright
And you cant change me
Cuz we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
Im sorry
I cant be Perfect
Now its just too late
And we cant go back
Im sorry
I cant be Perfect
I try not to think
About the pain I feel inside
Did you know you used to be
My hero?
All the days
You spent with me
Now seem so far away
And it feels like you dont
Care anymore
And now I try hard to make it
I just want to make you proud
Im never gonna be good
Enough for you
I cant stand another fight
And nothing alright
Cuz we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
Im sorry
I cant be Perfect
Now its just too late
And we cant go back
Im sorry
I cant be Perfect
Nothings gonna change
The things that you said
Nothings gonna make this
Right again
Please dont turn your back
I cant believe its hard
Just to talk to you
But you dont understand
Cuz we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
Im sorry
I cant be Perfect
Now its just too late
And we cant go back
Im sorry
I cant be Perfect
Cuz we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
Im sorry
I cant be Perfect
Now its just too late
And we cant go back
Im sorry
I cant be Perfect" She sang.
3 minutes later Jojo's "Baby It's You" came on and she screamed again. She was a big fan of music so she was ALWAYS listening to the radio or listening to music in her room and listening to music online.
"OoooohhaaaahhhhhOhhhaaaahhhh.......
Can somebody explain to me
Why everybody is trying to be
Living like a celebrity
Doing what they see on MTV.
Ice is cool but I am looking for more, simple things is what my heart beats for.
Cause its me
I don't ask for much
Baby
Having you is enough
You ain't got to buy nothing
It's not what I want
Baby it's You
We don't have to go nowhere
Its not what I want
Baby it's you
It's not for what you got
Cause I know you got alot
No matter what you do
You always gettin Hot
It's You,
It's You
Baby all I want is You Yeah
It don't matter that your car is fly
And your rims are spinning on the side and
It don't matter where we go tonight
Cause if I'm with you I'll be alright.
That's cool but I'm lookin for more
Its your love that my heart beats for.
Cause thats me
Don't have to spend a dime
Baby
I just want your time.
You ain't got to buy nothing
It's not what I want
Baby it's You
We don't have to go nowhere
Its not what I want
Baby it's you
It's not for what you got
Cause I know you got alot
No matter what you do
You always gettin Hot
It's You,
It's You
Baby all I want is You Yeah
Ooooohhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh
Oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.......
You ain't got to buy nothing
It's not what I want
Baby it's You
We don't have to go nowhere
Its not what I want
Baby it's you
It's not for what you got
Cause I know you got alot
No matter what you do
You always gettin Hot
It's You,
It's You
Baby all I want is You Yeah
Yeah Yeah Yeaey Yeahey Ye Ye Yeay......" she sang.
She danced around as she sang and concentrated on where she was going. She was going up to Wal-Mart so she could buy Ryan Cabrera's CD, Take It All Away. As soon as Jojo's song was over Lori got mad because of all the commercials. She put it on 97.5 WOKQ and sang along to Martina McBride's "This One's For The Girls".
"This is for all you girls, about thirteen.
High School can be so rough; can be so mean.
Hold onto, onto your innocence.
Stand your ground, when everybody's givin' in.
This one's for the girls.
This is for all you girls, about twenty-five.
In little apartments just tryin' to get by.
Livin' on, on dreams and Spaghettios.
Wonderin' where your life is gonna go.
This one's for the girls,
Who've ever had a broken heart;
Who've wished upon a shootin' star:
You're beautiful the way you are.
This one's for the girls,
Who love without holdin' back;
Who dream with everything they have.
All around the world,
This one's for the girls.
(This one's for all the girls.)
This is for all you girls, about forty-two.
Tossin' pennies into the fountain of youth.
Every laugh, laugh line on your face,
Made you who you are today.
This one's for the girls,
Who've ever had a broken heart;
Who've wished upon a shootin' star:
You're beautiful the way you are.
This one's for the girls,
Who love without holdin' back;
Who dream with everything they have.
All around the world:
This one's for the girls.
Yeah, we're all the same inside (Same inside.)
From one to ninety-nine:
This one's for the girls,
Who've ever had a broken heart;
Who've wished upon a shootin' star:
You're beautiful the way you are.
This one's for the girls,
Who love without holdin' back;
Who dream with everything they have.
All around the world, yeah,
This one's for the girls.
(This one's for all the girls.)
Yeah, this one's for the girls.
(This one's for all the girls.)" she sang.
She groaned when a shitty song came on and put it back on 107.1 WERZ just in time to hear Ashlee Simpson's "Pieces of Me". She shouted in excitement and turned it up louder.
She sang along, "On a Monday, I am waiting
Tuesday, I am fading
And by Wednesday, I can't sleep
Then the phone rings, I hear you
And the darkness is a clear view
Cuz you've come to rescue me
Fall... With you, I fall so fast
I can hardly catch my breath, I hope it lasts
Ohhhhh
It seems like I can finally rest my head on something real
I like the way that feels
Ohhhhh
It's as if you know me better than I ever knew myself
I love how you can tell
All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me
All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me
I am moody, messy
I get restless, and it's senseless
How you never seem to care
When I'm angry, you listen
Make me happy it's a mission
And you won't stop til I'm there
Fall... Sometimes I fall so fast
When I hit that bottom
Crash, you're all I have
Ohhhhh
It seems like I can finally rest my head on something real
I like the way that feels
Ohhhhh
It's as if you known me better than I ever knew myself
I love how you can tell
All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me
How do you know everything I'm about to say?
Am I that obvious?
And if it's written on my face...
I hope it never goes away... yeah
On a Monday, I am waiting
And by Tuesday, I am fading into your arms...
So I can breathe
Ohhhhh
It seems like I can finally rest my head on something real
I like the way that feels
Ohhhhh
It's as if you've know me better than I ever knew myself
I love how you can tell
Ohhhhh
I love how you can tell
Ohhhhh
I love how you can tell
All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me
All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me..."
She pulled into the Wal-Mart parking lot and parked next to a black Lexus G3 300. She looked at the license plate and it said, "GFR 333".
NOTE: *made up license plate number!!!! This is not Greg's license plate number!!! I made it up because I don't know it!! I just know the GFR part*
"Whoa." Lori muttered under her breath. She immediately recognized the vehicle. Greg Raposo of Dream Street posed in front of it for his album cover. Then a bunch of thoughts ran through her mind. "If it is who I think it is this is going to be one of the best days of my life. I haven't seen any of the guys since December 7, 2001 at the Capitol Center For the Arts in Concord when I went to the 'JYY X-Mas jam. This could end up being my lucky day."
Then she started having second thoughts when she realized that she was shy and not very pretty. Sure, she looked good wearing her jeans she had gotten from Kohl's and a long sleeved striped shirt with different colors of blues on it. She looked cute right now but she wished she looked more like Britney Spears. Lori thought she was so pretty, but she knew that she'd be hot too if she had a personal trainer, make up artist/hair stylist and nutritionist like Britney did. She rolled her eyes. She got out of the vehicle and put the keys in the purse after she had locked it.
Butterflies filled her stomach and she started humming Ashlee Simpson's "Pieces of Me". At that point in her life that was her favorite song. She only wished she had someone that she could sing it about. Ashlee had written the song about her best friend, Ryan Cabrera, who had lived with her family for 2 and a half years. Lori loved singing, even though she had a sucky voice, and she wished that she had someone in her life that she could sing about. She was a lonely 17 year old girl who just wanted to love somebody who loved her back.
"Chill out Lori. It's going to be fine." she coached herself as she walked into Wal-Mart. She made her way through a crowd of people and headed straight for the Entertainment department, not knowing that there was a signing going on.
"Don't cut!" a girl shouted at her.
Lori looked at the girl as if she was nuts, but continued walking through the huge line of people. She wondered why that girl was making such a big deal and when she got to the front of the line she knew what the big deal was. She SAW what the big deal was. Greg Raposo, former member of the famous boy band, Dream Street, was sitting at a table signing autographs. She stared at him for what seemed like centuries. Her jaw practically dropped in shock.
Greg looked over at her and smiled just to be nice. She walked away and started going through the CDs, trying to find Ryan Cabrera's CD. She looked around the section she was in and saw a skinny blonde haired boy looking at CDs. When he turned around and saw her looking at him he looked at her then looked away. It was Matt Ballinger, another former member of Dream Street.
"What? Are they ALL here?" she thought to herself. She looked where Matt was going and looked him up and down, checking him out. She looked away and smiled. "God he's so hot."
"Finally." she said when she found Ryan Cabrera's CD. She looked at the cover and then flipped it over to see what songs were on it. These songs were on it: Let's Take Our Time, On The Way Down, True, Exit To Exit, Take It All Away and Blind Sight.
She took 2 steps back and turned around, accidentally bumping into Matt. "S..Sorry." she stuttered.
"It's OK." he assured her.
She walked away and went over to the register to pay for her CD after she had gotten the money out of her purse. She put it down on the counter.
"Did you find everything you were looking for?" the lady behind the counter asked.
"Yeah." Lori said simply.
The lady rung it up and said, "$8.95 please."
Lori handed her $10 and she waited for her change, which was only $1.05. She took her change and receipt and stuffed it in her jeans pocket then walked through the crowd and decided to go see if they had the new Popstar magazine that she loved to read.
"Yes!" she said loudly in pure bliss. She smiled when she saw the magazine and said, "I have to get this."
