CHAPTER 2: I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING!
"Can I look at that after your done?" a voice asked. "It's the only one left." the person added.
Lori glanced to her right and saw no one standing there, which made her look to her left. She stood up and said, "Sure." She got nervous because she wanted to buy it.
"Thanks." he said.
"Y--You're welcome." she stammered.
It was Matt and he was standing inches away from her. She could reach out and touch him.
"So, um, what's your name?" he asked out of curiosity. He looked at her.
"L-L-L-Lori." she choked out. She blushed from embarrassment. Remind me to beat me up later. God I am such a loser! I can't even say my name let alone spell my name!, she thought. She remembered what had happened when she was surprised with backstage passes to meet the guys. She spelled her name wrong when Chris (another member of Dream Street) asked her how to spell it. She felt like such an idiot. But she got her picture taken with Greg so she was happy about that. She had two copies at home, which she loved looking at. She thought Greg was really hot so why shouldn't she like looking at the picture? LOL. Then she blurted out, "Your name's Matt, right?"
Surprised and confused he said, "Yeah. How'd you know?"
She blushed and looked down at the magazines and then back up. "I used to be...or am a fan of Dream Street."
"Really?"
"Yeah." she said. She looked at him and he looked back at her.
"And what do you mean 'used to be'?" he asked still looking at her.
"I don't know." She shrugged. "When DS broke up and everything I just kind of..lost interest or something."
"Oh."
She went back to flipping through the magazines and stopped when Matt asked, "Why'd you lose interest?"
"Because I knew I couldn't let you guys effect my life the way you guys did. I just had to get back to reality." she spilled.
"How'd we effect your life?" a curious Matt asked.
"In 9th grade I was really obsessed with you guys. I let my grades drop and all I could think about was you, Greg, Chris, Jesse and Frankie. I dunno. I didn't care about anything else." she admitted.
"You let your grades drop?" He looked at her in shock.
"Yeah. I didn't care about anything else." she answered.
"I get like that sometimes, too." he admitted. "Sometimes I just don't care."
"I'm like that all the time though." she said. "I do care about some things, but most of the time I don't care."
"Oh." he said not really knowing what else to say.
Silence. Dead silence. They looked away from each other and stared off into space.
"I should go." she finally said breaking the awkward silence.
"Wait." he said when she started to walk off.
He walked over to her and she froze on the spot when she heard him say wait. She couldn't believe that this was actually happening to her. She turned around and looked at him.
When he didn't say anything she asked, "Why'd you say wait?"
"I, um, I know we just met and everything, but me and Greg are planning on going bowling after his signing and everything. Do you want to go with us," he blurted out, "We're probably going to go out to eat after too...or maybe before. We haven't decided yet."
"Did you come here with anybody?" he asked.
"I came by myself." She replied.
"You drove here?" he inquired. He looked at her and she nodded, "Yeah."
"How long have you had your license?"
"Since last January." she answered.
"Sweet."
"Yeah."
"You want to go walk around or something?" he asked.
"Um...I want to buy this magazine first." she said holding up the Popstar magazine.
"I'll go with you." he offered.
"You don't have to if you don't want to." she said stubbornly.
"I know I don't have to, but if you don't mind, I'd like to." he confessed.
"I can't believe this is happening." she shared.
