Book Reviews

Maybe you'd like to read one of these books recommended
by first and second-grade students at Lafayette School.

"Stanley" by Syd Hoff

I read a book called "Stanley" by Syd Hoff.  I loved Stanley because Stanley invented houses.  And he is not like all of the other cavemen because they are grumpy and mean.  But Stanley is nice and kind to all things.  I do not mean just people, I mean everyone, even animals too.  You should read "Stanley" and see the end.  It's nice!

"Swamp Monster in Third Grade"
     by Debbie Dadey

This book is about a boy who turns into a swamp monster and he needs carrots to eat to keep him human.  He goes to the bathroom and his friend Ted is in there and Jake, who is the half swamp monster and half human, scares away Ted.  It was so cool and disgusting too.  You should read it.  It's the coolest book ever.  Try to get other kids to read it too.
