My mom had this to say about the story: �This is way too short! Just when it was getting good, you stopped. I want to know more. A question about her name -- Redemption. It means, literally, "to buy back," "to pay the price owed." It is not related to revenge or protection, but to restoration, substitution. Are you going to develop that aspect? Or is the name inappropriate?� Leave it to her to notice the name thing. I originally had a whole lot more to her story but I never got around to it because�life. Or maybe I got bored or something.
Redemption stands before you, short in stature, but tall in strength. Flames seem to flow from her head like a river of fire, winding down her back, brushing the ground. Her jade green eyes stare back at you almost chillingly. Issuing a challenge, or a warning? She seems much too delicate, her hands too dainty, to wield such a large sword. But wield it she does, striking down any obstacle that stands in her path. She is not one to be trifled with. Do not underestimate her power.
You feel a soft wind brush past you, whispering "I am Redemption. I am the redeemer of the weak, the avenger of the dead. I will strike down all who stand in my way."
Redemption was innocent once. She was a child who loved to laugh and play. She would go on long treks through the forest alone or with companions. She would run through the valleys and fields with the abandonment of youth. One day, she lost her safe little world. They swarmed in from all around and claimed her land and her people as their slaves. Redemption barely escaped with her life, vowing vengence upon the marauders as she fled them.She started out upon a journey to uncover who was behind the treachery that forever altered her perception on life as she knew it.
Redemption's first encounter with angels was a meeting with two of the most powerful angels. She was awed by their otherworldly beauty and their amazing strength and power. It was all she could do to keep from cowering in their presence. They introduced her to their world, teaching her many gifts and offering their protection over her. She knew in those moments that to successfully seek her vengence, she must become one of them.
Redemption met her Archangel on a quiet spring evening. She was distracted with the beauty of the sun setting when he barged into the peaceful stillness with a look of hunger in his eyes. She immediately knew he was one to be reckoned with. She worried that he was just like the ones who had attacked her home until he reached down and pulled her into his embrace, into his world.
In those few seconds, her life was forever altered. Redemption was an innocent who fell in love with one more powerful than she could ever imagine. He promised her all she could ever wish for, yet failed to give her the one desire of her heart: his love.
Now, with her Archangel but a bittersweet memory, Redemption seeks to carry out his will and his dream. She will never forget him and hopes for the day he will return to her.
