Phoenix
I was thinking of doing a dark romance where the characters have no qualms about killing humans; its like killing a cow for food. I would probably scare off all my readers if I did something like that, but I am completely obsessed with the idea of doing a vampire story where my vampire(s) arent all good and noble and soulful but actually evil. Evil in a good way, of course. And maybe not even really evil, just having a different set of morals than we do. I mean, if you ask a fanatical vegetarian, it is just as evil to eat cow as it is to eat human, so since that is a relative concept (to some), then why not make it relative even more so. Also, I wrote that poem and thought it was pretty cool. High Schoolish, yeah, but cool.

Phoenix is a big ole weakling and she never got to be strong. Im not really sure if she should be a strong character because I hope to make Hunter an extremely strong male lead. I just havent decided what their story should be because I dont really like Phoenix too much. Although I just came up with something like having her infiltrate some secret vampire sect by using her weakness to her advantage so Hunter can destroy Wroth and take over as Lord or something. Not sure but that adds some good conflict and a good story. We shall see.

The Dark Side of the Moon

Hunter is calling for you.
He wants your beauty,
He wants your body,
He wants your blood.

Listen to him speak,
Listen to him shout,
Listen to him tear your throat out.

Not even a whisper,
Not even a cry,
All is silent when you die.

Hunter is calling for you.
He wants your beauty,
He wants your body,
He wants your blood.

Phoenix had always been weak. When she was 16, she met a man late one night. He promised her life and love and eternal happiness. She believed him and accepted his request. He gave her death, killing her soul so her body could live forever. She would never grow old, she would never get sick, she would never die. All she had to do was kill in order to survive.

Phoenix didn't realize what it meant to be a vampire. She was clumsy; she would miss the vein, or release too soon, or be too rough. It always ended in the same manner; a person would be dead and Phoenix would still be hungry.

One night, Phoenix wandered into territory where she didn't belong. There was a nest of vampires in the area and they weren't pleased to see a weak suckling crossing into their land. They came after her, with their power and their might, threatening to stake her. They weren't a strong group; they themselves had been made in the most recent century. But, there were many and they had more knowledge of their powers than Phoenix. She ran and hid and tried everything she knew to escape from their wrath, but it wasn't enough. They overcame her quickly and began taunting her with a stake. Phoenix wasn't even very old as human, much less a vampire. She still had human emotions and feelings that had not left her and this is when they took over. She became hysterical, fighting and clawing, scared for her life.

Hunter heard her cries and intervened. He dispatched two of the vampires with their own stakes and then picked up Phoenix and vanished before the other vampires could regroup. He took Phoenix back to his lair. It was a huge mausoleum of a place with curtains over every window and the furniture covered with sheets. It was quite a beautiful home in the daytime. At night, the mist would creep in, and strange noises would carry on the wind. Every now and again, a scream was heard echoing from the walls. Humans whispered it was haunted and stayed away. Hunter took her to his living quarters in the giant mansion and laid her down on the floor. He could smell her maker's scent on her still. She was a young one, created by the bastard Wroth.

Wroth would go around making vampires of any pretty young thing he came across, male or female. Then, Wroth would leave them to their own devices and their own learning. Most of his children would be killed in the first couple of years from lack of knowledge of their powers and weaknesses. The ones who survived did so only because other vampires took pity. Hunter was one of those vampires. He was constantly cleaning up Wroth's messes, whether it was to kill a childe or raise it. Someone needed to end Wroth's reign, but Wroth was old and powerful and not many would dare challenge him.

Hunter was still unsure what he was going to do with this one, Phoenix. Initially, he was going to kill her; she was too weak to be a vampire, she would never survive. But, once he looked upon her beauty, he realized Wroth had chosen well this time. She was incredible to look upon and he felt feelings come over him that he had forgotten existed within. So, he remained indecisive. He figured he would teach her and if she didn't catch on quickly enough, he would end her misery.
