| This might very well be my ultimate favorite story of all time. So much so that I am writing two books because I don't want their story to end. Well, not really. Here's the thing. I started out deciding to do a book that took place in pre-historic times (PHT) because I was taking a class in Pre-History and I kept wondering what it would have been like to live during that time period. Clan of the Cave Bear or Quest for Fire? Is it selfish of me to like to think that I, in my greatness, did not descend from apes or sub-intelligent primates? One thing I discovered from several different "early man" sites is that if a caveman were walking around today, we wouldn't be able to tell the difference. And that got me thinking... This is the story of a couple and how they cope and survive in a familiar environment. They live there life with their tribe until one day there is an incident and they get frozen (don't worry, I got a great loop-hole for the cell breakdown that would make it so they can't come alive) and are discovered a whole lot of years later in relatively present time. Now, this is the story of a couple taken from one environment and thrust into another and how they cope and survive. My dilemna is I was thinking of making this into two books where the first book takes place in PHT and the second book takes place once they enter the comtemporary landscape. That way, I could end the first book on a (mostly) positive note so the readers don't feel cheated or forced into having to buy the second book. Recently, however, it has came to my mind that I could do a book in duality. It would be a pretty creative style. I was thinking of having two different points-of-view for each section. This would show the parallel between the two different worlds, how even in modern times, they still have to deal with the same stuff they dealt with in PHT. Also, it would re-emphasize my theme that we did not come from idiots and we are not so different (translation: better) from our ancestors. It doesn't matter what I plan to do; I will present them here in the 2-book format because it is easier to give synopsisesesis that way. |
