James is the firstborn son of a mean cold-hearted bastard, also known as the Duke. The Duke decides that for James's 18th birthday, he will buy him a girl, Margaret, to help relieve Jamie of that pesky virginity. The woman that the Duke finds, however, is also a virgin and does not know the first thing about contraception.
James, feeling guilty over taking the poor girl's virginity and, being enraptured with Megs as boys are wont to do with the women who relieve them of their virgin status, makes Megs his mistress, much to his father's shock and dismay.
Megs shortly becomes pregnant because, remember...contraception. James is ecstatic and Megs gives birth to a son, little Jamie. I'm not sure if his son is gonna be called Jamie, or if he is even going to be called James, but for now, that is what I am using until I forget their names again and create new ones. Or I come up with better names. Few characters have firm names.
A few years pass with interesting anecdotes involving James and Jamie and events that mark the time. And I'm sure something along the lines of Professor Higgins (James), teaching Eliza Doolittle (Megs) how to behave in polite society. Or maybe just to read. Basically, I haven't come up with anything exciting or groundbreaking yet.
The Duke tells James he needs to marry in order to get a heir. James, already firmly in love with both Jamie and Megs, says he has an heir and proceeds to legalize Jamie. This infuriates the Duke, of course, and the Duke again threatens him, this time finding a wife for James: Lady Victoria.
James will have none of it and marries Megs amidst scandal that James is no stranger to. The Duke immediately disinherits him, but it is okay because James is an Earl also from his maternal side. Also, James and Megs are ostracized by society and that is a set-up for book three. Maybe.
Aha! I came up with the bestest name for him! I shall call him�JULIAN! Now I have to go and edit everything.
