The brother continues to stick up for her and the brave�s relationship and eventually, the father acquiesces to letting her marry him. All is going well until evil stepmother or evil stepdaughter discovers the truth or discovers something equally horrible but not necessarily true.
Oh, I forgot to mention that the Indians where blamed for the massacre but she knows better and she tries getting people to listen to her that it was white men who did it, but no one will. Maybe that�ll be something the Evil Steps uncover or use to their advantage. Brother fights them on this and sticks up for her. Finally, the brother tells the father that the first time he lost his daughter it was unpreventable. This time, he�s gonna lose his daughter because of his weakness. The father finally backs down and realizes what a witch he has married and allows his daughter her will.
I haven�t decided if they go back to live with the Indians or stay there. I�m leaning towards going back to live with the Indians.
