In the Eyes...

"What is it?" asked Phong. And not without reason. The "this" in question looked exactly like Matrix. It was a complete copy, even down to the tatoo and the scar over one, except for two things: where Matrix had one replacement target eye, it had two, it had no eyes. It also had four cruel, foot-long spikes extending from its left hand.

"Were not exactly sure what it is," replied Bob, "It seems it used a piggy-back function on Matrixs icon. We need to find out whatever it is. Have you ever seen anything lke this Phong?"

"Well, my child, I have seen similar thing in my lifetime. It seems that it is a clone made to be a duplicate of Matrix. I once knew a virul sprite that made several clones of his enemys, all with the purpose of deleting the sprites that they emulated."

"Phong, do think that it was created to. . . .delete me?" Matrix had been anxious about this creature ever since he saw it and Phong had awakened a unthought terror in his heart. He didnt want AndrAIa to be alone. "Do you think that this sprite is still alive?"

"I do not know, my child, but you must be patient. I attended the examination of one of these clones and they usaully have very loose security on their icon. Usually they are made to deliver themselves to the person who wants to initiate the deletion. That way, they act one way on their tirp there and can have their code changed to wish to delete a certain person. Perhaps Mouse can help us."

With that, he opened a vidwindow and addressed Mouse.

"Mouse, I believe we something in the Principal Office that you may be able to help us with."

"Dont you worry. Ill be over there in before you can say HTML."

Phong turned as the vidwindow winked out. "Come, Bob, Matrix. We must prepare this clone for examination."

"Lets put it this way, suga. Ive hacked into the supercomputer," at this Bob glanced quickly in Mouses direction, "and in comparison, this is a piece a cake. I dont think Ive ever seen such low security for an icon. Here we go, Im bringing its programming onto the screen."

The small view screen on the console glowed green with the information displayed on it.

"Ahhh. It is as I feared. It has a command line for the deletion of Matrix. Though how it got such an intimate knowledge of Matrixs programming, I know not."

"What you mean, Phong," asked AndrAIa. By this time, she and Dot had joined everyone in the examination room.

"It has a crucial parts of Matrixs code in its icon. It is almost like someone took Matrixs icon and downloaded all his information onto a new icon, and then corrupted it. Instead of protecting him from harm, as the icons programming helps to do, it was changed to do only harm to him." Phong turned and looked at the prone form of Matrixs form lying on the bed. "However, I think that it can be reversed. Mouse?" Phong looked at her questioningly. "Awright, Phong, Im on it." "Alright, Mouse. Come Matrix. We must look at the abilitys of this clone of yours."

As Matrix and Phong walked off together, AndrAIa called after them and started jogging in their direction. Bob and Dot only looked at each other and then at the clone, reclined on the bed.
