I didn't grow up in luxury
Violence in crime was always around me since the age of 4 until now
I've always been around the same things
I'm from Frisco, West Point Road
Hunter's Point where it always stays cold
I watched my hood over the years
We've had bad times and we had fears
I've had good times as well as bad
Funny happy times as well as sad
From playing with my friends tag in the dark and watching a lot of people end up shot
I still see kids from back in the day
All grown up coming to my way
Some people even have kids of their own with no money, no job but I leave it alone
But we all survived and we're making it now
Just follow your dreams and make it somehow
I'm from the projects not just from the hood and i'm making it now so I guess that's good
Don't you hate it when you can't have company 'cause they're afraid of something happening
To their cars 'cause it might get jacked
So they go and leave it at that
You can't even get a pizza delivery
Just because of a few dummies
Who try to steal the pizza now that's sad and makes the rest of us look real bad
Just because we're poor doesn't mean we're crooks
So maybe simple minded people need to take a look
At the hard working people up in H.P.
Who tries to fight crime in the community
In the projects you have to be strong to survive
In the long run you'll make it out alive
Make something of yourself and have some fun
This message goes out to everyone
Follow your dreams and you will see
One day you will be in luxury
And your kids will have it good
It's not fun growing up in the hood
You survived and your making it now
Just follow your dreams and make it somehow
