Imbolc

Imbolc marks the recovery of the Goddess after giving brith to the God. The longer periods of light awakens her. The God is now a young, lusty boy. His power is felt in the longer days. Warmth fertilize's the Earth ( the Goddess) and causes seeds to grow  sprout. So the earliest beginings of Spring occur.
This is a purifacation Sabbats, after the shut-in life of winter - its also a Festival of light and fertility. This is a Fire Festival, we light big bon-fires & lots of candles. Fire represents our own illumation and inspriation.
Imbolc is also know as the Feast of Torches, Feast of Pan, Brigid'd Day, amoung many other names. This is one of the trtaditional times for initations into covens, or self-dedication rituals. The Symbols for Imbolc are Candles, The Bride, Grain Dolly,  Sun Wheels. The Colors are White, Yellow,  Pink. The Animals are Robin, Burrowing Animals, Sheep, Lambs, Dragon,  Deer. The Stones are Turquoise & Amethyst.
