Over the sands of time....
The one thing I must say about the days of MY life is that they move...as I do.
Until July, 1994 I worked as a Tax Service Specialist for the Internal Revenue Service. I was offered a new job as a Tax Auditor, with a relocation to anywhere with the 50 states. So I chose---Not California, Louisiana, Nevada, New York, nor Hawaii---but Florida. The climate there was beautiful....warm and humid, with intermittent refreshing tropical rain showers; especially in the fall. Such a pleasant change from the freezing, winter, lake breezes that whirled around the corners of my former Wrigleyville neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. This career change brought frequent travel opportunities my way. Having resided in and/or visited a great many states, including a few Caribbean isles(1997 Christmas Carnival Cruise), I settled into the hurricane state with the intention of making it my permanent abode. I was so pleased to call Florida my new home.....However, "the bunk I was bunking in got to feeling too soft and cozy"... so when the opportunity presented itself, I accepted a position with the United States Air Force at Bolling AFB in Washington, DC to set up and manage their Tax Assistance Office...just one day before the 9/11/01 crisis. My career-life was a flipside different from any government job I'd previously held. (See AIR FORCE DIARIES below). Yet as the sands of time blew, my life changed drastically. I have now come full circle back to Chicago after a life altering bout with cardiac problems and surgery. However, nothing positive had become of my life after I arrived in the state of Maryland (where I resided), anyway. I will always dream of Florida and claim it as my home.
~~~DOWN THE HALL THROUGH HISTORY BACK~~~
Birthplace, Chicago, Illinois July 23, 1947. Proud of my very loving extended family of grands, aunts,uncles, cousins, mother,brother,sister, and nephews, that is now branched out by family. Education in parochial schools throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago. High schools attended were St. Elizabeth's High School (ran by the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament) and Parker High School, from which I graduated in June,1965. After high school I attended Chicago City College then Roosevelt University, while working full-time. During the Viet Nam war era, I married and lived on the army base Fort Polk, Louisiana for a short time (hated it). In 1973 and 1974 I gave birth to two beautiful daughters, Melinda and Ayanna, respectively. My career with the U.S. Government began in 1975 when they were mere toddlers. I advanced up through the government ranks from an entrylevel job as legal typist. dvorced...yadayada.... then decided to pursue my lifelong dream of leaving Chi-town for a better life.
My youngest daughter's beautiful wedding was the most glorious time of my life---so I thought----then, this new century brought me a grandson....DJ ( I call him Twooey) because he is the second , that is, Duane Randall Meighan, II or Jr. He is my GREATEST joy. (update) --- along with sister Mya Lynn Meighan, born December 18, 2005.
