File Size: 69 KB just flat on my back in Greenwich village’s St. Vincent Hospital---ticker problems again.
For months I have planned on taking advantage of the Air Force Base monthly tour bus trips to New York.  When Johnny Mathis cancelled his Westbury, NY concert on March 8 and 9, I decided to take the March 23, tour.  $45.  What a deal.  I had my new found beautician style my hair in an up-sweep style with cascading curls---suitable for “the theatre”.   We left at 6:00 am and arrived at the 42nd Street Bus Port Authority at 11:30am.  I walked about ½ block to the Amsterdam Theatr to buy tickets to the musical play “The Lion King”.  When I had searched the internet, they stated standing room tickets would be available in the morning of the play.  When I got in line, they announced no more tickets were available.  How disappointing.  I had been trying to get to New York to see this play for 5 years---never mind.  I just bought a ticket ($100 I might add) for the May 18, 2002 trip and decided to go tour the town….then….I started getting that ole feeling again.  That feeling that all  heart patients know signals “get yourself to a hospital.”  I signaled a cab and instructed him to get me to the nearest hospital.  If I had called an ambulance, I would have been gone before they got through that traffic.  Praying all the way, I got to St. Vincent’s hospital within minutes.  I managed to drag myself into the emergency room and after what seemed like an eternity, they started working on me in panic mode.    After about an hour, I was stabilized, and admitted for observation.  The emergency room doctor stated by heartbeat rate was up to 250 beats a minute, causing a severe lack of oxygen in the blood, and loss of potassium, and all that good stuff.  Well----there I was, 6 floors up with a picturesque view of Greenwich village.
Since the 1960’s I had always wanted to visit this hippie populated New York community (now NEW AGE groups), but from a hospital bed??  Oh Well~! the best laid plans of mice and men…

The next afternoon they released me with a new beta-blocker medication, to keep my hearts beating normally, but advised me to see a cardio ASAP.which I am planning to do this week.  Hitherto…..at least I’ve had the pleasure to visit Maryland’s sister state…..
