| CHAPTER THREE | |||||||||||||||||
| Lisa reached the dock long before Jordan but Mica Jason, Joseph, Jonathan, Sussie, Azwald and Mono were there. There were nine of them in all, five boys and four girls. | |||||||||||||||||
| Sussie, Azwald and Mono had not yet turned 14 so they had nothing to worry about. Azwald and Mono looked, acted, and dressed like boys because their moms were afraid for them. | |||||||||||||||||
| When Jordan reached the dock he was all out of breath. | |||||||||||||||||
| Lisa lit the lantern and all the other lanterns that hung on poles attached to the dock. Azwald was the first on to jump into the water. She had a perfect dive but her swimming left much to be desired. | |||||||||||||||||
| Lisa pulled off all her clothes except for her slip. She walked to the edge of the dock and looked at the black water below. | |||||||||||||||||
| On the dock there was a bait shed that stood two feet off the ground. | |||||||||||||||||
| "Lisa why do you always do this? Are you going to stand there until I push you off, right?" Michael said walking up to Lisa. | |||||||||||||||||
| "Not on your life, I wouldn't give you the satisfaction." Lisa said with a laugh. With that Lisa did a backward dive into the ice cold water. | |||||||||||||||||
| They swam for about an hour. Jason, Sussie, Azwald and Mono had left. But Michele, Joseph and Jonathan were on the dock laughing and joking. | |||||||||||||||||
| Lisa's head had just emerged from under the water when she saw something that turned her blood to ice. There, under the bait house was a pair of red glowing eyes starring right at her. She dove right back under the water and swam under the dock. Whenever she felt scared, like she was right now, the only way she could calm herself down was if no one was looking at her. When she was call she swam to the ladder and pulled herself up. The eyes were gone now, but the feeling that she was being watched was not. Lisa picked up a towel and wrapped it around herself. Even though the night was warm Lisa was shivering. | |||||||||||||||||
| Jonathan noticed her shivering, "Lisa are you cold? 'Cause if you are, I can take you home," he said walking over to Lisa. | |||||||||||||||||
| "No, I'm not cold," she said slowly. "I saw it. It was here." Lisa dropped her head onto her knees. | |||||||||||||||||
| "What did you see?" Jonathan asked kneeling down next to Lisa and putting his hand onto her shoulder. | |||||||||||||||||
| "What do you think I saw? I saw The Black Where right under the bait house." Lisa said bitterly. By then she had begun to cry. | |||||||||||||||||
| Jonathan, Joseph and Michael all looked at each other. Their eyes were saying: "How could this be?" "Know one has ever seen The Blackwhere before." "We better get Lisa home." | |||||||||||||||||
| The only one who dared to say what he thought was Jonathan "Come on Lisa, I'll take you home." | |||||||||||||||||
| Lisa got up slowly and her movements were like in a dream. There was a thick fog that blanketed the ground like in a bad horror film. Jonathan and Lisa walked in silence to Lisa's home. | |||||||||||||||||
