Fine fabrics (silk, linen, or antique handkerchiefs) may need a backing of organza, pellon, or muslin.

  • 3/4" pin back
  • #22 Tapestry needle
  • #22 Chenille needle
  • #20 Chenille needle

These are color numbers for YLI Corporation's 100 % silk ribbon. If you choose to use a synthetic ribbon your results will differ from the model.

    Miscellaneous

Students need to use a 3" or 4" spring-type embroidery hoop (a wooden screw-type is acceptable) and usual sewing supplies including sharp scissors and possibly a needle threader.

Handy items to have: water-soluble pen, cotton swabs, Fray Check®

Look over the Stitch Diagrams. Practice any unfamiliar stitches on a firmly-woven fabric with pearl cotton.

    Sources

Your local stitching shop and/or fabric store should be able to provide the supplies for this kit. You may need to seek out a better fabric store for the fabrics, i.e., one which carries bridal fabrics.
