At the end of every month, Mommy will move all the headlines from the home page here, so that it stays neat & clean. This page will be organized from the most recent month backwards; last month will be at the top, the month before will be next, and so on. You can click on a month/year so that you can find what you're looking for more easily.

June 2007

June 11, 2007

Mommy said I could keep my website, but not my domain. My site has been downgraded until I decide whether or not I want to stay in skating. In the process, Mommy also removed the ClaireCasts since I never wanted to work on them.

I hope everyone doesn't give up on me-I don't know if I'll get to go to the Olympics, but I do want to keep skating, and I'd like to keep everyone updated on it.

June 5, 2007

The Bluebonnet Open was this past Sunday. I got 5th place (out of 5 girls). More information can be found on the Competitions page.

Mommy decided I need to take another break from ice skating-this time permanently. I'm only 5, and she thinks I need to work on more important things, like getting ready for school and improving my behavior. She may or may not let me get back into skating classes & all the fun stuff that comes along with being a figure skater, but she'll still take me to public skate on the weekends when I'm good.

Keep an eye on this page for any updates on the future of my skating career!

May 23, 2007

This month has been filled with a lot of practice and hard work getting ready for the Bluebonnet Open. Mommy updated the Competitions page with information about my event. There will be 9 girls in my event (including me), and one of them is the girl who beat me at the Houston Fall Invitational back in September! I really want to get that gold medal now!

May 13, 2007

I've been busy this month-getting ready for the Bluebonnet Open, starting a new daycare, trying not to be a pain in the butt. I got to go to Disney Princesses on Ice with Mommy today. We had a great Mother's Day outing, and it was a lot of fun.

April 2007

April 17, 2007

More updates! Check the Beary Big News for information on the new sheets of ice at both Chaparral locations. Mommy removed my Yahoo! skating calendar since she's always forgetting to update it. She also updated the Competitions page with a little more information about the Bluebonnet Open.

April 15, 2007

Since Mommy's computer died back in February, there haven't been any updates. She's back online with her work computer now, so she'll be able to at least update information for me.

Speaking of information updates, the Bluebonnet Open is coming up on June 3rd at Chaparral Ice. I've started working with Mr. Barry for my routines-since I'm still having a hard time with some of my Basic 3 stuff, I'll be competing at Basic 2 level. That's okay with me, since it means I'll be more confident with my moves on the ice.

Also, I didn't pass my Basic 4 test back in March, so I'm still in that class. Everything's getting so much harder, but my real problems spots are crossovers and 3-turns.

Check back for more updates soon!

February 2007

February 11, 2007

Mommy rescheduled our tonsilectomies for after I finish Basic 4. I'm still skating for now, but it's getting a lot harder. Yesterday I bonked my head and both me knees on the ice trying to get my feet in the right place for crossovers. I'm going to have to practice really hard if I want to pass Basic 4 the first time around!

February 4, 2007

Started Basic 4 yesterday-Miss Heidi & Sam are taking a few weeks off teaching, so Miss Renae is my teacher. She's nice, but I miss Sam & Heidi.

I'll be taking a couple weeks off skating-Mommy and I are getting our tonsils out on Friday.

February 1, 2007

A new month, a new look! I got a new logo, a new background, but it's still the same me! I'll be starting Basic 4 on Saturday, and I can't wait. I also changed my mind on my music for the Bluebonnet Open. I was thinking about skating to 'Scotland the Brave', but I think I'm going to skate to 'Best of Both Worlds' by Hannah Montana (she's so cool!)

January 2007

January 28, 2007

I passed Basic 3!! Yay! Next Saturday I'll start Basic 4; it's a LOT harder than anything I've learned so far. You can check the About Me page to see the things I'll have to learn to pass this level. And even though I'm sad Miss Heidi won't be my teacher anymore (she'll still be my coach), her friend Sam will be my teacher, which is cool because he's really nice and is a good ice skater.

I'm also getting ready for the Bluebonnet Open. It's not until June 3rd, but it won't hurt to get started early! I already picked out my music-I'll be skating to Scotland the Brave (I like bagpipe music). Unless I pass Basic 4 before the registration form is due, I'll be skating at the Basic 3 skill level. I'll keep everyone posted on how I do.

January 1, 2007

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone is happy, healthy, and safe, because this year is going to be great! This is going to be a great year, and I hope I'll get to share it with everyone.

A couple things I want to remind everyone about:

  • I still have cookie dough from my fundraiser for anyone who's interested-email my mommy for more information
  • My blog is now private, and only my MySpace friends can read it
  • My videos and pictures are on MySpace, too, so if you want to see them you'll have to be one of my MySpace friends
  • I have goodies in the Pro Shop now for anyone that wants to support my skating habit!

Take care everyone!

December 2006

December 28, 2006

It's been a LONG month! Classes, evaluations, private lessons, the holiday exhibition-I'm glad this month (and year) are almost over! I'm hoping to pass Basic 3 next month, but I'm still having problems getting my basic stroking technique down (I like pushing off with my toepick).

The Competitions page has been updated to show all the upcoming competitions in Texas for both ISI and USFS.

Mommy added some videos to my MySpace page-one is from my performance at the 2006 Houston Fall Invitational, and one is a slideshow of pictures set to music (Queen's 'We Will Rock You'). You can only see my blog, videos, pictures, and profile on MySpace if you're one of my friends, so invite me to be one of your MySpace friends now!

Mommy also updated the Pro Shop-now you can get Lady Claire Marie buttons, bumper stickers, and postage stamps. We'll have more stuff up next year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

December 2, 2006

My mommy moved my blog to MySpace so I can show off my pictures and videos, and so I can see all my friends who support my figure skating. It's really neat! Check it out!

I still have leftover cookie dough from my fundraiser if anyone's interested-Mommy will update the Pro Shop page with more information this weekend.

NOVEMBER COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER

MY GOAL

120

SOLD

32

LEFT TO REACH MY GOAL

88

November 30, 2006

I didn't even come close to reaching my goal on the fundraiser :-(

What I didn't sell to make the minimum order, my mom bought, so I have leftover dough if anyone's interested.

November 25, 2006

My cookie dough fundraiser isn't going so good. The orders are due to the fundraiser company on Monday, and I'm nowhere near my goal-I'm not even near the minimum order! I'm going to work my butt off today and tomorrow-keep your fingers crossed!

November 22, 2006

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUNT LISA!

Today is my Aunt Lisa's birthday-I hope she has a great day!

My cookie dough fundraiser is half over, and I'm nowhere near my goal. I have to sell at least 50 items to place an order, and 120 to qualify for free shipping. I'm going to have to start busting my butt to get this done! The cookie dough company moved the date up on me too-the orders are due by Monday, November 27th instead of the 28th now. I think I can do it if I work my butt off! We put our cookie dough order form on the Pro Shop page with the rest of the fundraiser information. Wish me luck!

November 18, 2006

I started Basic 3 today after my 2-month break from skating. Miss Heidi's my teacher again! I'm so happy! She's going to help me with my routine for the Holiday Show-I finally decided to skate to Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairie.

My cookie dough fundraiser is officially underway! I got yhe brochures in the mail yesterday, and already have 7 orders-only 113 to go. Today after my skate class my mom and I sat outside Hollywood Video on Wells Branch Parkway (thanks to Jerome, the store manager, who gave us permission to set up a table) and I asked everyone I saw if they wanted to buy cookie dough. It's kinda hard, because I didn't realize a lot of schools and other groups were selling cookie dough too. Tomorrow my mom and brother and I are going to walk around our neighborhood and see if I can get some of my neighbors to buy cookie dough. Later this week, I'll ask my family when I see them all for Thanksgiving. I really hope I can make my goal. I'll keep everyone posted!

November 10, 2006

Our fundraising is getting underway! Mommy ordered the brochures for our cookie dough fundraiser today. We'll get them by the middle of next week, then we can get down to business! My goal is to sell at least 120 tubs of cookie dough! I only have until November 25th to sell as many as I can, because the order is due to the fundraising company by November 28th-this is so that the cookie dough will get to us by December 15th, and we can get it out to everyone who orders before Christmas. Check out the Pro Shop for more information and a PDF brochure!

November 7, 2006

My vacation from skating is almost over!! I get to start Basic 3 on Saturday, November 18th. Basic 3 and up are 8-week programs, so I'll have the time I need to learn the difficult stuff. You can see what I need to pass here.

Also, I'm trying to pick out my music for the annual holiday show. Right now I can't decide between Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (because I'm a fairy) and Frosty the Snowman (because I love Frosty). I hope we have time for Miss Heidi to help me!

And I'm already making plans for Camp Sub Zero next summer! My sister Savannah will be here to visit me next summer, and I'm looking forward to her going to camp with me. I miss her so much-I can't wait! But since Camp Sub Zero is going to be expensive, we're already planning for fundraisers after the beginning of the new year. Check back for more information (coming soon).

October 1, 2006

October 1, 2006

It's a new month, and we have some fun new stuff on my website! Mommy has helped me make my very own podcast-the ClaireCast! For now, we're only doing audio, and I'll talk about skating, interview my coach, and other fun stuff. When Mommy gets better at this, we'll add some video ClaireCasts so everyone can see me skating. It'll be so cool!

Also, this month I'll be training with Miss Heidi on proper stroking technique and working on my Ice Skating Institute (ISI) tot badges-look for patch progress on the About Me page.

September 2006

September 29, 2006

Mommy's made some minor tweaks to my website, like fixing broken links and she put a new welcome sign up (I like sparkles!) We're also getting ready to start podcasting-I'm so excited! At first it will be just audio clips, like me talking about ice skating & stuff, but when Mommy gets better at it we hope to put up small video podcasts of me ice skating. It should be really cool!

September 20, 2006

Mommy went to Arlington this past weekend and got 1st place in the Beta Freestyle event at the 3rd Annual ISI Open Competition. Congratulations Mommy!

Mommy and I will be taking a little vacation from ice skating school. We'll be taking the next eight weeks off, until the next 8-week sessions starts. Then Mommy will be in Adult Basic 4 and I'll be in Basic 3. In the meantime, I'll be working with Miss Heidi to learn proper stroking techniques and having LOTS of fun at public skating since I won't have to worry about class or competitions!

September 12, 2006

Mommy updated the competitions page to show all the competitions in Texas until the end of the year. I think I'm going to wait to do any more competitions-at Chaparral Ice/Northcross we have 3 exhibitions before the end of the year, so I'm going to do those. It's just as fun to just skate in front of everyone as it is to get medals for it!

September 11, 2006

A lot of people will remember today as the day that the World Trade Center in New York came down. My mommy tells me that on that day she went to the doctor's office and found out she was having a healthy baby girl-me! For all bad things that happen, good things will happen too. I am thankful for all the good things in my life today, and I hope you are happy, healthy, and safe.

* * * * *

Now that my mommy finally got the computer working again, she can get back to updating my website. I have lots to share with everyone! I got 2nd place in both of my events at the 2006 HFI-Mommy put a slideshow on the competitions page, along with some other pictures.

I'm in Basic 2 now-I passed Basic 1 last month. Once I move on to Basic 3 things will start getting harder, so Mommy has me staying in Basic 2 until I'm ready to move up. You can check out my About Me page to see what I need to learn for Basic 2, and what I've already learned so far!

Here's the news that matters to me...

  • I got 2nd place in both my compulsories and freestyle events at the 2006 Houston Fall Invitational! Check out the Competitions page for more info!
  • Mommy got 1st place in the Beta Freestyle event at the 3rd Annual ISI Open Competition at The Ice at The Parks in Arlington!

August 2006

August 1, 2006

Mommy redesigned my website so it's easier to get around and find everything. You can click a link in the top navigation bar (purple) to get to different parts of the site. The links at the bottom are for the more simple stuff, like contacting me or Mommy and reading about stuff that happened more than a month ago. Take a look around and check it all out!

July 2006

July 26, 2006

Mommy signed me up for some more affiliate programs to help me earn more money for ice skating. The newest link you'll see is the Toys R Us logo, under the navigation buttons.

You'll see more little picture links in the next few weeks (hopefully); if you feel like shopping online, please do it through my website. Thank you!

Mommy also made a site map page, where you can see ahere all my pages are, listed in one place. The gold skate is the link to the site map (kinda like a golden key-give it a try!).

July 25, 2006

Mommy updated the About Ice Skating and About Figure Skating sections with information from Wikipedia.

Mommy also added some nifty new features to my website:

Today's date is now on this page (JavaScript; may cause a yellow security bar at the top of the window to come up)
My Yahoo! Calendar has been set up to show class and competition dates-everyone can see what I'm up to, but only my Special Friends can get all the details. Make sure Mommy puts you on my Special Friends list if you're a family member or friend of the family! The link is available on the About Me page.

July 22, 2006

I finally passed Snowplow Sam 3! Next up, Basic 1! Mommy updated my progress page and my blog.

July 10, 2006

Mommy added a Contact Me page to make it easy for people to email me, and there's a guest book on that page too! She put a counter on this page so I can see how many people have visited my website.

Mommy also tweaked my photo page so now the pictures are more organized and in a groovy photo album. You can check it out under the About Me page-just follow the Photo link once you get there.

July 8, 2006

Mommy has updated the Competitions page. She also made the About Ice Skating link active, but those pages are still under construction.

July 7, 2006

Mommy has updated the following pages:

  • My Journal
  • About Me

July 6, 2006

Welcome to my website! My name is Claire, and I'm an Ice Princess. I love ice skating, and I want to be a figure skater. This website is to help me share my love and adventures in ice skating. It's still under construction, so check back often!

For now, the bookstore is open. By shopping at Barnes & Noble through my affiliate links, I can earn money to pay for my skating expenses, like entry fees for competitions, costumes, skating classes and private lessons, and everything that comes with figure skating.
