spouse 1, Maria JOHNSON, born Jul 10, 1819 in England. She died at sea Jan 14, 1849, I believe from complications of childbirth .

note : in the 1900 Federal Census, Frederick Frances FRANKLIN was listed as arriving in the US in 1849 . Both his parents born in England . He could read and write . Occupation was listed as farmer . He was a naturalized citizen . Adelia was listed as born in New Jersey , her father and mother born in Virginia . Frederick and Adelia are buried in Hopewell Cemetery in Holton, Ripley Co, Indiana .
note : Tina Reese had the following note on her info about Frederick Frances Franklin . " Frederick Franklin gave up an title in England to come to America and start an new life " . The story I have heard from other sources is that he did not believe in the class system of England which was his reason for coming to America . Also he was an actor in Shakespeare's plays and was an sailor before leaving England . From other researchers, and sources, in England, his father was listed as an shoemaker and Frederick as a boilermaker on his marriage certificate . This makes you wonder if Frederick had stretched the truth a bit . How could he have known that we would check up on him 170 yrs later ?
