Frederick Frances Franklin born in London, England, April 26, 1826 and departed this life Jan 03, 1904, aged 77 years , 8 months and 7 days . On Sept 30,1845 he was united in marriage to Maria Johnson at Hensington Church, London, England and to this union were born two children . On his passage from England to New Orleans, his wife and youngest child died .  And the mother buried at sea . On Aug 27, 1849 at Cincinnati, OH, he was again married , this time to Adelia EAGON, who died Sept 12, 1901. To this union were born nine children, six of whom survive him . Several months previous to his death he became an member of the Church of Christ at Holton, Indiana and was baptized in good faith . He leaves three sons and four daughters and 23 grand-children, a number of great grand-children and an host of friends to mourn his departure . In his departure from the pains and sorrow of this life , we feel  as the poets say :

" Asleep in Jesus , blessed asleep, from which none ever wake to weep ".

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Goodwin at Hopewell on Jan 6, after which his remains were laid to rest in the New Hopewell Cemetery .

We smoothed the curls of his darkened hair, on his marble brow with tender care . And laid his hands on an final fold , on his peaceful heart so still and cold .

We kissed his brow with an sad farewell , and the anguish we felt no one can tell . We laid him to rest in earth's snowy breast ,to sweetly sleep the sleep of death .

We laid away his cane and his empty chair , and folded up the garments he used to wear . The task God assigned him on earth is done, his suffering is over, his crown is won .

We weep for the form we see no more, Oh! Guide us Father to that bright shore . He the first to greet us us of old, when the pearly gates of heaven unfold .
