Stats

In Gemstone, there are ten stats. These stats determine various attributes and how many training points one will get. The stats are: Aura (AU), Intelligence (IN), Wisdom (WI), Discipline (DI), Strength (ST), Constitution (CO), Charisma (CH), Logic (LO), Reflexes (RE), and Dexterity (DE). As a wizard, you'll get a bonus for Aura and Intelligence.

The placing formula was changed recently. It used to be that you would roll anywhere from a few minutes to a few days or more to get a high number for stats. I would always shoot for 650+ rolls, but now you only get 620 points, plus 10 for each stat that your profession has a bonus in, for a total of 640 points, where you can place how you want, with each stat having at least a 20, and only 1 stat being 90+.

Different stats grow faster than others. Its up to you to decide if you want to be more optimal when older and have a horrible time when young, or if you want to be better when young and not as well when old, or somewhere in between. I have yet to experiment with placing of a wizard with this new stat placing system.

Back to training points. Mental training points are figured by: (AU+DI+WI+LO+IN+CH)/10. Physical training points are figured by: (CO+ST+AU+DI+RE+DE)/10.

As a wizard, you'll need more mental points than physical points, but look at the section for training costs, and you'll be able to determine how many points you'll need.

You can also convert training points if you need to. An example of converting training points is: say you wish to learn mana share, which costs 7 mental points and 0 physical points, and you have 5 physical and 6 mental points left. You can use 2 physical points to make up the 1 mental point that you need, and you'll be left with 3 physical points which will carry over to your next training.

Some people say to never convert training points, though I have done it before with no problem. Its up to you.
