Hello. Now that you picked a race and the stats for your wizard, the next part is training a wizard. There are 28 different skills to choose from. I'm listing the skills, the cost of training for each skill, and if I think its worth it or not for a wizard to learn.
The first number is how many physical points it takes to learn the skill, and the second number is how many mental points it takes to learn the skill. When you learn a skill the second time in a training session, the cost increases, meaning that it takes ten mental points for a spell, but the second spell you learn that level will cost 20 mental points for that spell.
Also, the first 10 times you learn that skill, your bonus will increase +5 for each time, then +4 the next 10 ranks, then +3 for the next, and so on, until you get 40 ranks in that skill (140 bonus), it will increase by +1 for each time you learn that skill.
Skills that are VERY Important for Wizards
Spell Aiming (2/1) ALWAYS learn twice per training.
Spells(0/10) ALWAYS learn two spells per training.
Shield Use (8/1) ALWAYS learn this once per training.
Edged or Blunt Weapons (9/1) ALWAYS learn once per training, depending on what weapon you prefer to use.
Scroll Reading (0/1) ALWAYS learn once per training, at minimum, as it helps to invoke spells on scrolls, and might be useful in enchanting someday.
Magic Item Use (0/2) ALWAYS learn once per training, at minimum, as it helps wave wands, and might be useful in enchanting some day.
Mana Sharing (0/7) Allows you to send mana to others and receive mana from others. I recommend at least 50 to 75% training in this, though some swear by fully singling in it. I currently have 24 ranks, but plan on getting a few more ranks here and there.
Armor Usage (14/1) Learn 4 ranks by 10, in order to wear full leather, the rest is up to you. I have 6 ranks currently, so I can wear double leather. Full leather, however, is the heaviest armor that a wizard can wear without suffering spell failure, but heavier armor helps to protect you better.
Climbing (6/20 I recommend at least 5 ranks by level 25, and then about every other level or so after that. I was told that with 24 ranks in this, you can go anywhere in the lands.
Swimming (3/1) I recommend at least 2 or 3 ranks by level 25, and then about every 3 to 4 years after that. I currently have 5 ranks in that and had no problems so far. I was told that with 24 ranks in this, you can go anywhere in the lands.
Physical Training (8/0) I recommend singling in this most of the time until you reach your maximum health.
Perception (0/3) I recommend at least every other level in this, though I single in this skill. This helps you find traps on boxes, and hidden paths, crevices, and hidden people. Its a nice skill to have.
Skills that are NICE to have, but not necessarily needed
First Aid (3/3) This allows you to be able to tend bleeding wounds, and to be able to skin better. I single in this skill, but it isn't required, though its nice to have.
Disarm Traps (2/7) This allows you to disarm boxes, and combined with perception and wisdom bonus, allows you to spot traps on boxes. This is a nice skill to have, and currently I have 10 ranks in it, and have been able to spot most of the traps on my boxes.
Pick Locks (2/8) This allows you to be able to pick locks on boxes. Its a nice skill, but I currently do not have any ranks in it.
Combat Manuevers (15/8) I am told that this is useful in helping against many manuever attacks, and every other rank gives you a +1 to DS and AS. I currently have zero ranks in this. Its debatable whether or not wizards should get this or not.
Trading (0/3) This helps give you a small discount at shops, and slightly more for pelts and gems. I currently have no ranks in this.
I'm not saying that my opinion is automatically right, some people have different opinions and ways of training, but I am satisfied with the way I have trained, which is similiar to this.
