"Mature People"
April 29,  1985
How many times, Daddy Dear,
Have you told me ...
          "Mature people aren't late!
          They plan their time.
They are there when they said they will be."
Yet how many times are you late, Daddy Dear?

Oh...You never told me that? ...
          I see.

How many times, Daddy Dear,
Have you told me ...
"Mature people clean up after themselves!
They put away the things they used.
They leave the cabinets and drawers closed."
Yet how many times have I picked up after you, Daddy Dear?

Oh...You never told me that? ...
          I see.

How many times, Daddy Dear,
Have you told me ...
"Mature people go to their meetings!
They don't let how they are feeling stop them.
They don't let their friends influence them any.
They don't let 'flimsy excuses' stop them."
Yet how many times have you missed your meetings,
And went to the car and just slept, Daddy Dear?

Oh...You never told me that? ...
          I see.

How many times, Daddy Dear,
Have you told me ...
"Mature people do not yell or argue!
They do not lose their temper.
          They are understanding.
          They solve things by talking.
They admit when they are wrong."
Yet how many times have you yelled at Mommy for something
that was not her fault but yours, Daddy Dear?

Oh...You never told me that either? ...
                                                                I see.
