These are some of the "jewels of the fandom" that I've encountered during my perusal of various fic archives. Enjoy!
Hermione, Queen of Witches, by Arabella. I absolutely cannot recommend this highly enough; this series is my favorite Harry Potter fanfic ever. Basically, these stories follow the same plots as the books, but are told from Hermione's point of view as she writes in her enchanted diary. And later, when Hermione presents Ron with a journal of his own, we get to see his version of things as well.
Transcript of a Meeting Between S. Kloves and J. K. Rowling, by B_Bennett. This funny, tongue-in-cheek story is for anyone who is more than a little annoyed at how the scripts for the HP films tend to take book lines from Ron and give them to Hermione. Admittedly, B's version of Kloves goes a bit far...but only in the funniest of ways!
The Goddess Diaries, by my friend Squin. Fans of the book series The Princess Diaries will recognize that this is a crossover fic. Hermione learns that instead of dentists, her parents are actually deities, and the smartest girl at Hogwarts is in fact heir to the throne of Mount Olympus.
Harry Potter and the Simurgh's Feather by Airewen. This story, which I found quite fascinating, has roots in Persian folklore. When word reaches Hogwarts of a talisman that might help stop Lord Voldemort, Ron and Hermione travel to Bulgaria to search for it.
Once Upon a Freakin' Time by Evadne. There came a day when Evadne decided to write this...hilarity ensued. It's a series of short vignettes in which (to quote the summary) the Death Eaters attempt to do bad things, but mostly just do things badly.
A Muggle Summer by Zsenya. Set in the summer before fifth year (meaning that it's now, sadly, a little out of sync with the Potterverse, as it was written before the release of book five). Hermione invites Ron to spend the end of the summer holiday at her house, thinking it will be educational for him to see how Muggles live, but it turns into an experience neither will ever forget.
Bones to Bones by Ashtur an'Vangan. When Susan Bones went to Hogwarts for her Fifth Year, she had no idea that she was going to be drawn into the beginning of the Second War. Includes a year long correspondence between Susan and Madam Amelia Bones. Hufflepuff Pride.
Harry Potter: The Breadbox Editions by Evadne. The most side-splittingly funny HP stories you could ever hope to read. Evadne takes lots of different movies and rewrites them in special "Breadbox Editions" (her spoofs of Lord of the Rings are to die for), and her affectionate attacks on the Potter films are some of her best.
I'm sure there are more...when I find them, I'll post them.
