As Harry and Sirius indulged in their moment of gratuitous sentiment, Ron looked up at the Whomping Willow with a perplexed frown. "Hold on, now...why's this thing all of a sudden not trying to pound us flat?"
Hermione whipped out her copy of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, turning to the relevant chapter. "Here it is, page 379...Crookshanks went first, and pressed a knot with his paw that made the Willow go quiet."
Ron's eyes widened with dread. "But Hermione...Crookshanks isn't with us!"
WHOMP.
The wind rustling through the Willow's leaves bore a suspicious resemblance to a chuckle.
