In case you were curious about the meaning of the cattery name, here is a brief historical reference: Lada is the ancient Slavic goddess of harmony, merriment, youth, love and beauty. She is the Mother of Gods and is also said to be responsible for the 'risin' in animals and men in the spring. So it is a perfect name with a special meaning, isn't it?

Lada cattery was started in 2006, when we obtained our very first Aby girl -- DeVande's Poppy of Lada. Special thanks to Jim&Sue Vande Sande and Monica Zehnder for this beautiful and loving girl (and for the patience while answering hundreds of questions). Although Lada is a newly CFA registered cattery, we do have five years of previous experience breeding Russian Blues and Cornish Rexes (you can find some pictures in our Gallery page). However, now we put all our efforts on Abys and do not work with any other breed.

News

Four wonderful Aby-babies (1 ruddy boy, Red (cinnamon)boy and girl, and 1 blue girl) were born on February 23nd out of parents Lada's Emmily Star-In-Style and Devande's Stanley Steamer.

The kittens will be avialable for adoption some time in June 2009.

We are often asked why we have chosen to breed cats. Breeding is a serious hobby full of responsibilities and excitements. We appreciate science and art, so we have found all of these could be applicable for breeding. But the main reason is to express and to share our love for cats.

Last but not least why we chose Abys. Look and personality altogether are in harmony with our family lifestyle. Have you ever got stuck at home in a misty weather if you know what I mean? If so, you can forget about gray days once and for all; since Aby lives with you, here will be non-stop sunshine all-the-year-round.
