MOTORCYCLE WEEK
ADVISORY COMMITTEE
TWELFTH MEETING-WORK SESSION
March 11, 2004-6:35 PM
CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Peter Brunette called the meeting to order on the above date and time.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Peter Brunette, Sharon Fleischman, James Joyal, Linda Peary, and Brenda Schmucker
MEMBERS ABSENT:
James Baird and Richard Heinis
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT:
Peter. Brunette reported that he appeared before City Council Government Operations and Ordinances Committee on February 23, 2004, by request from the committee, and discussed our recommendations for Bike Week fees.
SECRETARY’S REPORT:
James Joyal corrected the February 12, 2004 minutes to read Local Businesses and Land Owners no report instead of assignment completed. Linda Peary made a motion, seconded by Brenda Schmucker, to approve the minutes of the February 12, 2004 Motorcycle Week Committee meeting as corrected. The motion was unanimously approved.
SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS:
2. City Council Liaison-No report
3. Laconia Rally & Race Association-Linda Peary reported that she attended the
February 25, 2004 Race and Rally meeting. It was a short meeting as there was no quorum. She reported that she met with Jennifer Anderson and Deb Gorman
and they discussed having a custom bike show in town Bike Week.
4. State and County Government- Peter Brunette reported that he has been speaking with the Department of Safety in reference to their input for Bike Week.
5. Local Businesses and Landowners-No report
6. Vendors, Exhibitors, and Non-local Businesses-Sharon Fleischman has been making contacts. She will report March meeting. She reported that she spoke to
several Bike Week attendees who suggested that the city charge a small fee (Example 25 cents) to a glass of beer charge in the beer tents to defray the costs of Bike week.
7. Event Model Research-Peter Brunette presented a proposal from the committee that the City should actively engage in the business of Bike Week related merchandising through licensing, direct marketing, contract marketing, or a combination of all three (See attachment) He discussed ways that Sturgis makes money their Bike Week by selling merchandise. Peter Brunette made a motion that we accept the proposal, seconded by Linda Peary. The proposal was unanimously approved.
OLD BUSINESS:

NEW BUSINESS
1. Final Report
(a) Target Completion Date-Jim Joyal made a motion, seconded by Linda Peary, that the preliminary draft be completed by June 1, 2004 and the final draft be completed by June 30, 2004. The motion was unanimously approved.
(b) Drafting Committee-Brenda Schmucker made a motion, seconded by Sharon Fleischman, that the drafting committee members be Peter Brunette and Linda Peary. The motion was unanimously approved.

COMMENTS:
Brenda Schmucker requested that the chairman notify the committee members of any impromptu meetings concerning Bike Week. Mr. Brunette agreed to notify the committee members.
ADJOURNMENT:
On a motion by Linda Peary, seconded by Sharon Fleischman, it was voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 8: 28 PM.
