2.5.98 : registrazione di Help su TMC2

E' stata un'esperienza unica per me! E' stato come se i Simple avessero suonato nel salotto di casa mia... davvero grande! Hanno suonato 8 brani nella prima parte (che andra' in onda il 21 maggio alle 16), tra cui War Babies e Glitterball, e 4 nella seconda parte, inclusa una splendida Someone Someone in Summertime (la data della messa in onda e' da confermare).

Ho avvicinato Jim e Charlie, che si sono mostrati estremamente disponibili nei confronti di tutti i presenti. In particolare, Jim ha dimostrato di apprezzare il nostro lavoro, sia come Fan Club che a livello di rete (great site!). Dopo un corretto spelling dell'indirizzo di posta elettronica mi ha salutato con la promessa di sentirci (e sentirvi) presto via e-mail!

Charlie ha chiesto ad Emiliano, amico e socio del club, dove e' stata scovata la foto sulla copertina del numero 3 della fanzine. Era parecchio curioso!
Era presente il tour manager Stan Tippins, che nel bel mezzo della registrazione ha comunicato (a gesti) a Jim e Charlie la sconfitta dei Rangers Glasgow in campionato, annuncio che ha galvanizzato tutti i supporter del Celtic (la squadra rivale per lo scudetto scozzese) della band.
L'organizzatore del tour, presente anch'egli, ha confermato tutte le date che trovate ad inizio pagina.

21.5 - HELP:
luogo piccolo, raccolto, dimensione molto intima e familiare. Un leader eccezionale per una band eccezionale. Qui Jim � un pane, sereno, di una dolcezza e un'affabilit� rare. Amore totale. Sono orgogliosa di aver dato loro un nuovo club! tranquilli, rilassati, come a casa di un amico per fare un p� di musica. Belle versioni, pochissimi campionamenti, tutto molto naturale, Red Ronnie � stato uno squisito padrone di casa. Penso sia stata la trasmissione migliore di tutto il tour promozionale in TV e con la perfetta chiusa di Don't You Rotterdam 86. Eccezionale veramente!

1.5.98: Roma, Festa del Primo Maggio (Piazza San Giovanni)

I Simple Minds hanno aperto la manifestazione, verso la 16, sulle note di War Babies, proseguendo con Glitterball e Don't You. Sono tornati sul palco verso le 22 per una grandissima versione di Belfast Child, che nemmeno un "piccolo" black out tecnico ha intaccato.
E' stata una performance notevole, di fronte a circa 400.000 persone che, nonostante la pioggia abbondante, hanno seguito con calore la manifestazione.

Simple Minds opened the concert at 4 pm with War Babies; then they played Glitterball and Don't you. They came back later (at about 22 pm) playing a very brilliant Belfast Child, which a technical problem tried to make less fascinating, but without success!
It was a great performance, in front of about 400.000 people wet by the terrible rain that oppressed Rome.
