We camped in Domat/Ems (near Chur, which is in the eastern part of Switzerland) for ten days. It was awesome. I made friends with both the kids and the leaders. I honestly didn't think I could camp like that for ten days with no German skills, but the kids liked me enough that they taught me German, and the camp was actually pretty luxurious. We had hot showers every couple of days, a bathroom with a sink, and a kitchen with a refridgerator. The really cool thing is, we built it all ourselves.
This lovely dwelling is the nonsmokers leaders tent. And this was only the second day. we had towels, clothes (like Philippe's shorts there in the middle) and coats hanging all over the place. It was a mess....
... but at least the view was good. :)
The first group of kids I got to know was the "Nameless" group, made up of Claudia, Franziska, and Mirijam.

They were pretty crazy, but really cool. The first day they questioned me about life in America and what I liked to do. But by far, the stupidest question I was asked was, "Do you have eggs in America?"

(claudia strangling franziska)
They're good kids, though. :)
The next group of kids was the 15er Team, which was the oldest group of kids. They were really cool. One day, while the leaders were having their leader day, they got to run things, and they made me paint their flag (each day we hung up a different flag according to the day's theme). It was pretty cool, and they gave me the all important Ticka Tacka Cheer for doing it. I felt special.
These cute kids (*hihi*) are Adrian and Nino. They were two of my favorites.
Here's Adrian and me after one of the discos on the next to the last day. He's so cool. :)
This is Sabina (called Bina) and Aline bonding on the last day of camp...
Hey, they had to amuse themselves somehow. :)
A couple of kids and me: Geraldine, me, Franziska, Claudia, Dave, Adrian, and Vanessa (who didn't believe I was American for a while...). We're in front of our kitchen. Classy, huh?
Everyone here is just *so nice*.... ;) Nino tortures Pasci while Fabienne looks on...
This cute kid is Belinda with her "Papi", Philippe - or Lehni, as he was known to everybody at camp except me and Aline. (At camp, they have this tradition of camp mothers and fathers, so Philippe was hers. Aline was my mother, and I was the mother of this really annoying kid for a while before I disowned him. Besides, I think the only reason he wanted me as a mother was because he had a crush on me - a dream which was swiftly crushed when I started hanging out more and more in Philippe's arms.. ;)) Anyways, Belinda was really cool, cause she taught me German the easy way (pointing at things and saying the name) and she adopted me as her Godmother. hehe!
I didn't get as many pictures as I wanted of the leaders, but here are a couple I did get...
Susi, Aline, Katherine, and me - we got to be really good friends, cause Susi and Katherine could speak really good english. Yay!
Me and Susi share a kodak moment.
Aline chows down on some applesauce after dinner one day. *chants* Chug, chug, chug! Actually, I did this too, and I was the only one who was able to get it all in my mouth without any of it dribbling down my chin. Dominik (another leader) tried it and ended up spitting it all out. It was quite amusing.
Me and Philippe.... or Julia Roberts and a random Backstreet Boy? You make the call. (taken on Celebrity day, we were all VIPs. Actually, I was Julia Roberts, but Philippe wasn't anybody. But before the talent show and disco that night, I had spiked his hair and put my bandana around his head, so all the kids thought he was. oh well. It was quite funny nonetheless...)
Philippe and Manuel (or Huebi, as he was known). Huebi was really cool. Although his english skills left much to be desired, he was quite a funny guy.
Aline and Philippe in a rare moment of peace.
