ship "Lion". His name is also found spelled Convers and Conyers. He is buried
in the old burying ground on Park St. - Woburn center. James is known as Lt.
James Converse (Convers, Conyers) and was in King Phillips War serving in
the Woburn Company. He was a valuable and highly esteemed citizen; was
repeatedly honored by the town with the principal offices within its gift, and
survived his son, Major James, dying at age 95.

13 who made the first purchase from the aborigines, and began the settlement
of Falmouth in 1660, where Isaac built the first house located near "Fresh
Pond." He moved to Tisbury during 1678-84 but he died in Barnstable.
