Marlins Escape the Brew Crew:

Marlins 6 Brewers 5
This is the game baseball is all about. The Marlins were able to score 2 in the bottom of the first on RBI singles by Mike and Ray Ray..., and again 2 more in the bottom of the 3rd on a 2 out, 2 run single by Ray Ray. Down 4-0, the Brewers battled back with 1 in the 4th, on an RBI double by Dave Wankel to score Greg Huntoon. Again the Brewers would strike with 2 more in the fifth on an error by the Marlins catcher and an RBI single by Brian McDonald. The Brewers kept clawing offensively finally getting ahead on a 2 run single by Jeff Jayne in the 7th. Riding the strong pitching of Zubin Arjani (8IP, 8Ks, 8H, 2BB), the Brewers headed into the bottom of the 9th with a 1 run lead. The Marlins led off the 9th with a lead off double by Brian, who then promptly stole 3B and then scored on a PB which tied the game. With bases loaded, Brewers closer Jeff Jayne came in to strike out AJ and intentionally walked Ricky to load the bases. The next Marlin batter, Johnny, came up with a lazy fly to CF and Ray Ray was able to tag and score on a close play at the plate to end the game. Hats off to both teams for a solid performance. Brewers were led by 2B Brian McDonald finished 2 for 3 with an RBI and RF Jeff Jayne finished 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Marlins were led by Mike who went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, Ray Ray who went 3 for 3 with a run scored and an SB.

Lobos Topple the Titans!

Alex Valdivia had a career day, going 4-4 at the plate, as the Lobos beat the Titans 11-1. "The ball just fell in the open spaces" opined Chuck Ederman, Lobo skipper. Jaime Guzman dominated on the mound for the Lobos, allowing just a single run in an abbreviated game.

Raiders Sack the Renegades!

The Raiders beat the Renegades, 6 to 1, behind a strong pitching performance from Miguel Varela. He pitched 7 strong innings, giving up only one unearned run. The Raiders offense was a team effort, pounding out 10 hits, which led to the 6 runs.

Braves Walkover Athletics

The Braves, protesting against the use of a thirteen year old right fielder by the Athletics, were granted a 9-0 win, when verification of an infraction of LACABA rules was established. Remember guys, no one under the age of 18 can play in a LACABA game. In what was rendered a practice game, due to the protest successfully lodged by the Braves, over thirty walks were registered by both squads- in one instance, 7 walks in succession. This was a game in which the umpire refused to call a strike. Without a doubt, this game has to qualify as one of the worst games ever witnessed by any living creature.
