The OST, now US 90, is constant entertainment. The passenger train was stopped. I rode up and down waving at all the tourist. I offered to take their pictures and my peanut butter sandwitch, for a price.
I think they were stopped so the conductor could tell OST and US 90 stories. Great picture, OST postcards for sale in the Site Shop.
The Water Maid-Mahatma Castle is located just outside of Crowley.
Can't you see cannons at each window? No? Hum?
Now tell me that doesn't look like a train station. Just to the west of Crowley.
Mike D. Help me out here.
Now this is the find of the ride. This chuch is just south of the Old Spanish Trail, or US 90. If it was adobe, it could be in Southern California. The design is Spanish. Or South Texas, for that matter. Gorgeous.
The priest's home was all "South Louisiana". This place has to be famous.
The Church Hall is below. Or I would guess that is what it is.
One more look.
One of Crowley's "Painted Ladies". The architecture in this town is prettier than San Francisco's. And, the weather is better.
I found another Mill Road. Finding the mill never pans out.
Awesome, this one did, right east of Crowley.
The passenger train caught up with me. Then it and the other train played a little "chicken". If you travel by train, don't expect "speed". Speed is blurring, Travel by train.
