I pulled into Rayne, it was 'bout half past three.
Notice the little rail theme we've sided into.
These towns have the railroad and the highway working for them. I-10 is about 3 miles north, where the city has expanded, just like it moved before.
"Courage and determination" to move one mile? That's a little dramatic. Actually, I think the sign is wrong. I think the distance was further and the buildings were actually "moved". Now that rates the dramatic. A discussion of Poupeville, the correct spelling of, can be found in another write. It's somewhere in this pile.
Below is an old red brick building.
Rayne is the Frog Capital of the World. There are murals everywrhere celebrating that fact. This sign is obviously at a pharmacy.
The train tracks are right behind me. This was the center of business in the old days.
A fellow biker was making his way to the WORTHMORE 5&10. Notice another frog mural on the side of the building. Go, tour the town and enjoy the humor these murals pass at ya.
OOps, that all folks. It was getting late and I wanted to chase that train.
More Louisiana
Thanks again to Andy in Jennings.
