| We arrived at an intersection and there was an old church. I suggested that we have a contest based on guessing its age as we had both bypassed the sign by the road which gave that information. I was off by 65 years and he was closer. It was covered in asbestos slate, the vinyl of yesteryear which could have been a disquise for its original covering. It was very simple with none of the ornateness which adorned some pre-Civil War churches. There was more. |
| This church was a little "different". Ray actually read the sign on the road, something I save for later. I will read the signs from now on. Bet there is an interesting history behind the Union, MS community. There are operating churches as close to Union as Ellisville, MS, just a few miles away. Union is in Jones County, the county that tried to secede from the Confederacy (but that's another story)". See, I told you he knew his stuff. Even more fascinating is the fact it is 102 years old. |

| Suddenly our camera dates are the same. Ray I need help on these. I don't remember seeing it. Ray took the Juniper Grove Baptist Church picture after we split up, down Ms.53 south of Poplarville. | Notice in the list of creditials credited to Bilbo, below the dates it says, "Take your choice". I don't know if all the choices were there. Just rumor. But the road named in his honor was horrible. It was the one booboo on the entire ride. Every ride needs a bad one to make the others look good. The others were great. |
