On the Road Again
Once moving the temperature was perfect. I shed the long sleeved t-shirt leaving me clad in perfection, a light gray Walmart short sleeved t-shirt and jeans, my uniform uniform.
We both slammed on our brakes sliding to a hault and took identical pictures of the falling down cabin on Benndale Rd. He sent me his and I sent him mine. Analysis and comparison followed with a conference which deterimined that his shot was better, thus I'm using his. A sleuthful person will see that the dates differ on our pictures.. They are both wrong or he ran the route prior to us running it? Mine is just wrong as I had no idea where I was even then. It was the 12th of May. So much for impressing you with the exactness of further information.
On this page the pictures are almost in order as most are of the same thing. This will be the last time I'll attempt orderlyness. Grouping seems easier as I was lost and I dropped the pictures and got them mixed up. To the right is the old Merrill Bridge over the newly formed Pascagoula River. We were right below the Confluence of the Leaf and Chickasawhay (Chick-ah-saw-hey). Confluences are powerful places. They are Nature's marriages. I could go on but I've given up on editorials. Back to the bridge. This shot was not enough to celebrate one fine bridge and the joining waters. Ray really pulled a rabit out of the hat with this bridge intro. We had been riding the all dirt Merrill-Salem Road when it just popped up. Ray said it had been out of commision for "a while" with no approaches. Just a skeleton crossing the river.
I jumped the railing and almost fell down the embankment as the grass was covering what I thought was ground. I backed up and tried again. Now that picture could be in Bridges Digest. It is that good. The dark figure above the red asterick is Ray, being patient.

Lacking a train, an unfortunate occurrance, although common, spanning the new Pascagoula River was the Illinois Central Railroad Bridge. This may be its first time pictured on the Internet. I have a lot of proud "first".
I have learned not to ask permission to take people's pictures. The natural answer is "no" because a lot of people feel they are being exploited for some reason. I kept this picture taking stealth. It is simply to demonstate that people fish in the river. I really was moved to ask if they could tell Leaf from Chickasawhay fish. I bet they'd have an answer. Best I kept that question stealth also.
This picture was taken first. It is of the Confluence. The picture of the bridge and Fagan was the last one taken because post picture taking I ducked into the woods to admire the shrubbery and was eaten by mosquitos which chased me out of their woods and up the embankment and buzzed the both of us until we made our escape across the bridge.
