They settled in McClean County, ND and her father Peter died sometime between 1905-1907.  Julia had been re-married by the 1910 census to Anton Lovo..  Alma was previously married to a MILLER prior to her marriage to Alfred in 1906 Stutsman County, ND.  Alfred and Alma had son George and daughter Julia who died as a infant.  According to oral history Alfred was not a very good husband to Alma and had a mean streak and for this she fell in-love with Italian immigrant Leonardo Contes (Contessa).
This is my great-grandmother Alma Trautman-Casper with son Benjamin, born 1913.  In this picture she is still married to Alfred Casper who woudn't let her leave with her son even though he was not his own.  Alfred raised him and Alma left and re-married to Benjamin's father Leo Contes (Contessa) around 1917 Wa.  They had several more children.  She died in 1940 Pierce County, WA and Leo never re-married.
Alma was born in 1889 Pekin, Tazewell County, IL to Peter Trautman born 1856 Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany and Julia Feick, dauther of Georg Heinrich Feick and Anna Catharine Made born 1869 Wersau, Starkenburg, Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany.  The Trautman family moved to North Dakota, from Knox Co. Nebraska between 1900 and 1903.
I tried to get the picture smaller but couldn't without too much distortion.
This is Alma and Alfred Casper shortly after they were married.  The picture was taken in Bismarck, ND around 1907-1908.
Here is Great-Grandma Alma again as Mrs. Alma Contes.  This picture was probably taken sometime around 1930 in Washington State.
My grandfather never seen his mother again after she moved to WA state, but shortly after my grandfather learned the truth he began corrosponding with his mother via letters. He also recieved many letters from his sisters Emily (Emanuella) and Cecilia.  I had the fortune to read these old letters which my grandmother held on to all these years.
