I zoomed way out and caught this reminder that not all is fun and games down here.
Check the definition of Cheniere.
I've never liked new bridges. I have opted often for the older one of the two. Not this time. The street lights were still in place in some areas along the old bridge. No street lights on the new bridge. We've slipped a little.
Taken from the same place. Seagulls enjoying the surf. (See, National Geographic speak.)
South of Leeville: Is this that new bridge? Nothing is going on and it appears to be going nowhere.
I panned out and got a bit nervous. I didn't want to be out here in the open with no protection.
I passed up a lot of shots and made for highter land. Good luck to me.
I caught this shot coming back down from the Leeville bridge. That's looking west. I'm telling  you, Louisiana is going away fast.
Now I was next to the bayou again. I was sure hoping that storm would stay where it was or go east.
I passed up a boat and set up for a shot. See the pelican (state bird, not exactly, there's aother, the mosquito. That's an old joke. I haven't noticed any mosquitoes lately. Might be global warming and they've all gone to South America to stay cool?
I don't imagine I saw temps go to over 85 all day. The Gulf has a lot to do with that. Might be too cool for them?
The pelican didnt' move. Obviously boats yield to the state bird. That one, anyway.
As I had seen up near LaRose, there 's another gate. See the barrier to the right? I think it to prevent storm surge and salt water intrusion.
