Warning:
The Hollywood Star System hates the above discribed type of competitve acting, with less than starring actors.
If you're not the Star, you support the Star, not steal the scene. So be careful.
More on this later.
Oh what a dirty word, why, we shouldn't compete? We are civilized people------------BALLS!
Acting isn't about what we should do it's about what we do, do!
In life you compete or die.
And it isn't just men that compete, women are just as aggressive about their competition, they just have a different way of going about it.

We enjoy watching competition--what's sports all about. We like to win, what's that all about? If you are not a competitor then why do you care if someone one-ups you? Why do you care if that jerk stole your parking place? Why do you care if Terri gets all the attention from the guys in the office? Why do you care that Joe got the promotion and you didn't? Why do you like to be right? Why do you want to be well known for being a great actor?  Tell Mr./Ms. "Non-Competitor", tell me.

Oh, but good acting is an ensemble acting you say. Yeah, sure, so let's have everybody being jolly good ladies and gentlemen on stage and screen to create some of the most no conflict, boring acting ever. And how many of you will want to watch this?
Not me. I'm not going to buy a ticket for falling asleep, I can do that everynight for free.

Compete to be the best actor in the scene always. Listen better, communicate better, want more, need more, fight harder, give more, love more------than your fellow competitors in the scene. That's how you really steal a scene--by being the best and making the others around you better.
