Any
story that starts with the main character having complete amnesia is bound
to be entertaining, or at least chaotic.
Dan
rarely had enough time to play with the group, but he occasionally got
himself embroiled in solo adventures.
The
character woke up on a bed in a tacky Inn, very confused a quite amnesiac.
He shortly found a note on the end table.
"I'm
sorry I had to fry our brain, but it was the only way I could break the
Shadowknives' hold. Keep a low profile and be sure to hide the extra
arms.
-Taelas"
A moment
later he realized that he, in fact, had an additional pair of arms.
He was also very well armed and wearing a conspiquous amount of black.
"Taelas"
began going about his business, trying to reconstruct his life from vague
fragments left in his subconcious. Black dagger, Serpent eating its
own tail, man's face, veiled woman, a campsite. Not a whole lot to
go on.
He
discovered that the Shadowknives were an order of hired killers based in
Kli, the city he was currently in. This came as quite a shock to
him, as he beleived the Shadowknives were demonic magical items.
However, when this misunderstanding was cleared up he left the city very
quickly and began looking for tatoos of that black dagger to turn up on
people.
Taelas was an Assassin for the Shadowknives, enhanced to point where he
could just crash into the most heavily guarded residences to get at the
target. The man was his last target, a priest of Oroth (hence the
serpent eating its own tail). He decided to fulfill the contract,
despite his earlier wisdom (resulting in the amnesia) and crashed into
the place. After a long battle he was terribly poisoned and dragged
his way out. Taelas was very near death, but had killed his target.
The Shadowknives noticed that someone with Taelas's powers, fitting Taelas's
description had just killed Taelas's last target. This lead to no
end of trouble, with a cat and mouse game all over Salidar.
After all this, he finally discovered why he ditched out on the Shadowknives.
He was hired out to kill a basically innocent woman, and what little concious
he had caught up with him. In an extended series of attacks against
the Shadowknives and raids on nobleman, Taelas gained enough money to ressurect
the woman in question and dissapear into the woodwork.
Never did figure out what that campsite ment, though.
