This is a Datsun Violet 160J SSS. As far as I know, these cars were built predominantly for the Japanese domestic market. Apparantly One shipment that was
destined for Singapore inadvertently found it's way to New Zealand where they were offloaded and sold! Because of this anomaly, they are naturally quite rare and are surely destined to become a collectors car.
This particular 160J has since been shipped to Australia.

Using the same running gear as the 510 SSS, the 160J was a brisk performer and handled well thanks to it's all independant suspension.

The clean sweeping lines give it a completely different look to it's boxy sister, the 510.

Power comes from the venerable L16 over head cam engine fitted with twin Hitatchi SU style carb's on the SSS version.
