Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces (LCAF)

Guild Charter

Preface: Realms of Legend (ROL) has several guilds in existence. Most of them have some requirements to join; for example, killing three of the lair monsters, but most of them lack the high level of organization for large-scale membership that the LCAF is used to. The LCAF experience in other game systems can be applied with the same good principles in ROL to build a successful game environment that offers a strong sense of community for our members.

Background:

The LCAF is the military arm of House Steiner in Battletech. House Steiner is one of five Houses or Factions that fight for control of the inner sphere or civilized universe. Most of its members come from the Multi Player Battletech (MPBT) environment on Solaris. House Steiner, as it is known in Battletech, has branched out to other game systems and set up the standard LCAF Guilds organization or Stables. On these other games, its goal is to provide its members with a place to meet where they can game with people they know and get assistance from the more experienced players. This should reduce frustration and enhance the gaming experience. There is both strength and camaraderie in numbers.
Goals: The goal of the LCAF on ROL is to provide brotherhood, organization, assistance, and fun to its members. We want to establish, maintain, and represent the guild in a proper manner while we accomplish these goals. This document is divided up into five sections. Membership Requirements, Benefits, Standards of Conduct, Training, and Organization.

I. Membership

A. Membership Requirements

1. There are no level, class or character alignments requirements in order to be considered as a canidate to join LCAF. Only that you pledge to abide and enforce the guild charter.

B. Membership Protocol

1. LCAF/House of Steiner members that venture to ROL are grandfathered into the guild upon officially appearing before the LCAF-ROL High Council. They must pledge to abide by and enforce the guild charter. After which they may wear the LCAF Handle. They will be required to hunt with each of the group leaders.

2. Existing LCAF-LOK members who join in ROL will immediately be accepted into the guild on ROL upon agreement to abide and enforce the guild charter. They will be able to wear the LCAF handle. They will be required to hunt with each of the group leaders.

3. Established ROL players who wish to join the LCAF must be sponsored by a current member and agree to abide and enforce the guild charter. A short sponsor period will be conducted and the prospective member will be required to hunt with each of the group leaders and the group leaders will then vote on acceptance of the member. Once they are voted into the guild and the new member are allowed to wear the LCAF handle.

4. NEW Members to the ROL who wish to join will have to be sponsored by a current member and agree to abide and enforce the guild charter. A short sponsor period will be conducted and the prospective member will be required to hunt with each of the group leaders and the group leaders will then vote on acceptance of the member. Once they are voted into the guild the new member are allowed to wear the LCAF handle.

*LCAF-ROL Recruiting is now closed to "New" members to the LCAF-ROL Guild until which time when ROL becomes available for general play.

Availability is based on the items in storage but issued items may be "traded in" for other items, as they become available.

Veteran Equipment includes(TBD).

One set of Hero equipment can be drawn by the primary character at a set level(TBD).

Note: It is through your donations of money and equipment that we can keep others supplied. Trading or selling equipment will make the necessary money we need to buy more equipment or train people. The items are broken up into these categories, specifically, for the purpose of risk management and difficulty to replace the item in the event of its loss.

III. LCAF Rules of Conduct:

Looting of another player's death pile is forbidden. An attempt to recover the equipment and return it must be made. If the owner is unfound the items should be placed in the appropriate guild store characters and a message posted on the community section of on the bulletin board under Dpiles. Do not post a list of items just location and time found. Scattered Dpiles are an exception. If the gear is greatly scattered then just store the gear as normal but if it is in close proximity then treat it as a dpile. You are only allowed to Player Kill in self-defense unless permission is granted by the Guild Leader or Assistant guild leader. Make every attempt to get to Conference and get help or work the problem out and only fight if cornered with your characters life in danger. It is up to each member to know whom the group leaders are and follow the established Guild guidelines. Treasure Jumping as a practice is not allowed. If an LCAF member or another player kills something let them get the treasure for it. This is not so much for LCAF parties as it is a way to deal with other players. If several contribute to the kill then split it up. Remind others adventuring with you that are non-LCAF to get only their fair share. This is an important and sometimes sticky situation that is usually followed immediately by player killing. On LCAF Group Hunts a leader is designated ahead of time and ALL treasure is equally divided in conference or lockers upon completion of the hunt with all remaining members. Be courteous to other players in the game. If in a large group let all players have some of the kills. If someone is fighting a creature let him or her have the kill unless they ask for help. Everyone needs experience. Spell casters be careful with the area of effect spells especially when in the company of thieves who may be scouting ahead or other players who may be roaming the dungeon. Remember you only get half the experience if you use area spells to kill monsters. If an LCAF member or friend needs help recovering their death pile please give them your prompt attention. Any ROL member that needs help recovering a death pile should be assisted by the LCAF if the members are capable. All LCAF members should know their limitations and not put themselves into situations where they would have no reasonable chance of survival. For example if your a High level character you have no business going Solo in UK, or other areas, where you have little or no chance of survival.

III. Rules of Conduct -Continued:

All LCAF members need to show courtesy, respect, and a willingness to help other ROL members. This will enhance the respect given to us and increase our standing in the community. Remember the LCAF is here to help build the ROL community and enforce community standards. Secondary characters that do not wear a LCAF Guild uniform have to keep a separate identity from the LCAF. If one of these characters is traced back to the LCAF primary character and has violated either Rules of Conduct for the ROL or LCAF then the primary LCAF character may be penalized, up to, and including termination from the guild depending on the seriousness of the offense. Each Group Leader must Organize and run at least one Guild Hunt every two weeks. All items listed as the focus of the guild hunt or are needed by the guild that are obtained on the hunt go into the guild store or lockers. Reports of members present and items obtained on guild or group hunts must be sent to the Guild Leader and Assistant Guild Leader by email so the roster can be updated. The Guild Leader is expected to set an example at all times. Should he/she go to another game where there is another LCAF organized presence it is expected that he/she join that group. This is not to say he/she can not run with other people in that game. This policy is here because a guild leader is in a high profile position that comes with responsibility to the LCAF/House Steiner Organization. Thus he/she should set the example that we are a brotherhood spanning many games and networks.

The Ideal LCAF MEMBER:

1) The people in their group are considered family to them.
2) They are the best adventurer in the ROL because they were given the best training and tools to work with.
3) They carry themselves and wear their LCAF uniform with pride and honor.
4) They believe in and promote all TOS rules, and LCAF rules and policies.
5) They help their teammates unselfishly and promote Group integrity.
6) They will protect the LCAF name and honor at all times.
7) They use and support the chain of command effectively.
8) They strive to learn.
9) They support those members appointed over them

IV. Training
(To Be Determined by Individual Group Leaders)

V. Organization:

The guild has one group leader for each character class, one Training Officer, a Guild Leader, Assistant Guild Leader, and a Guild Liaison. This gives us a governing body of nine people who make decision by committee on general guild matters. The Guild Leader and Assistant Guild Leader have input into the General LCAF governing committee. The Guild Leader is selected from within the current game by that game's leaders and ratified by the LCAF Governing Committee. The AGL is appointed by the Guild Leader. The LCAF Governing Committee is made up of each of the guild leaders from each of the games the LCAF is involved in. Each other position is evaluated by the rest of the ROL leaders and replacement candidates if needed are selected based on commitment, dedication, ability, length of service in the LCAF, and maturity. Group Leader positions will be evaluated every 90 days and all other positions every 120 days or as needed. General LCAF policies can be overridden by a council of the LCAF Guild Leaders and their Assistant Guild Leaders from the other LCAF Stables if they feel that LCAF-ROL policies go against the general LCAF direction or position.
