| This was released in 1991, by Zepplin games.
Zepplin were very good at making a bad game out of something great, some of their games were good, but could have been so much better, so it was quite a surprise when this game came out, that it was actually quite good, but dont worry they didnt keep this up for long, check Match of the Day! |

Zepplin somehow got the rights to use Kenny Dalglish as an endorsement on this game, and that probably sold a fair few copies alone. Kenny Dalglish was a hero in many peoples eyes, as a player and as a manager, so any game sponsered by him must be good! well luckily it is good, its not great, and it certainly doesnt rate in the top 5 management games but its a good game. |
| As with most of the later management games on the Spectrum, this used a nice graphical display, instead of using the old style text screens.
Users of windows should feel quite at home with this game, as it features a well implemented icon driven menu, which was quite unheard of in a lot of games during the dark ages of the Speccy. |
| The main game itself is very simple, you pick your team and your formation, then you watch your boys get hammered (Okay that might only be me!)
This is another one of the quick management games, unlike the earlier ones that would take days to finish a season, this one can take a few minutes, which is where the game really looses a bit of its depth, its just too fast. |
| The lack of options also puts this game down a tad, simply you can buy players and select your team, and thats about it really, which isnt far from the original management game that was Football manager, but ten years later you would have thought they could have come up with a few new ideas, in fact this really does feel like a remake of the aforementioned Football Manger, when it could have been so much more.
But at least you dont have to type 99 every time you want to do something! |
| The matches can be fairly tense, when you are loosing 1-0 with ten minutes to go for instance, and really this makes the game worth playing, and very addictive, but if you want detailed football management then really id look elsewhere. |
