Plo Koon's lightsabre is typical of the designs adopted by the Jedi Knights during the last decades of the Republic. Prior to the Battle of Naboo, this lightsabre emitted a yellow-orange blade, though it was later configured to ignite a more traditional blue sabre. Jedi Padawans often model the design of their first lightsabre upon that of their Master, while others adopt designs common throughout the Jedi Order. Thus, while Plo Koon's lightsabre is similar in style to a number of other lightsabres used during this era, it is nevertheless unique and individual to its owner. The design features a ribbed hilt, with the ignition and blade length adjust buttons located towards the base, capped with a conical radiator casing segment. Initially, Plo Koon fitted an orange Adegan crystal in his lightsabre, to produce a yellow-orange blade. This blade became Koon's signature in many battles, including in combat against Yinchorri warriors and against the Stark Commercial Combine on Troiken. However, shortly after the Battle of Naboo, Plo Koon replaced the internal crystal with a traditional blue crystal, in keeping with the more unified image the beleaguered Jedi were attempting to present. Koon wielded this blade in the Geonosian execution arena. Sadly, at the end of the Clone Wars, Plo Koon was shot down over Cato Neimoidia by traitorous clone troopers. He and his lightsabre were caught in the ensuing explosion.
