Plo Koon's Jedi starfighter is a Delta-7 interceptor customized and modified by the Kel Dor Jedi Master. Plo Koon flies his starfighter throughout the many battles of the Clone Wars. Plo Koon - as with many Jedi - was given the use of a factory-model Delta-7 starfighter prior to the outbreak of the Clone Wars, initially for reconnaissance and short-range missions. However, these starfighters were integrated into the forces of the Republic with the onset of war, and Plo Koon flew his fighter into numerous battles against the Separatists. Plo Koon flew as part of Red Squadron, and was often paired with Adi Gallia's Blue Squadron. A year into the war, Koon and Gallia led their squadrons against pirate forces laying seige to Senator Bail Organa's transport. Later, Plo Koon teamed up with Ki-Adi-Mundi and Anakin Skywalker to take on more pirates over Varonat. As the war continued, Jedi began to customize their starfighters to better combat the growing Separatist might. Plo Koon had his starfighter repainted in a blue-and-white sunburst pattern - to correspond with the paint scheme of his integrated astromech unit - not dissimilar to the style adopted by Anakin Skywalker for his own customized starfighter. When the Eta-2 Jedi Interceptor became available, Plo Koon was one of the few not to abandon his Delta-7 in favour of the advanced model. Plo Koon flew in his modified starfighter into the final days of the war, when he flew a recon mission in the skies of Cato Neimoidia. Plo Koon spotted Separatist forces on an enemy-occupied platform, but it soon transpired that the droids were not his only enemies. Darth Sidious had transmitted Order 66 to his clone forces, and Koon's ARC-170 fighter wingmates dropped into attack positions. Before Plo could comprehend, his traitorous pilots blasted his starfighter from the sky. The interceptor and its occupant were consumed in a huge explosion. However, in post-production, it was decided that Plo would pilot an older Delta-7 model - though the Eta-2 cockpit shots are still used in the final film. -- Multimedia -- Image Gallery: Plo Koon's Jedi starfighter |
