Antiox masks (antiox breath mask) are devices worn by beings unable to breathe in oxygen-rich environments. These breath masks are commonly used by the Kel Dor species of Dorin. The antiox mask fits over the wearer's mouth and nose - or closest racial analog - to provide a supply of breathable air in place of the planet's own. Antiox masks are worn by beings from homeworlds devoid of the usual oxygen and nitrogen mix. The Kel Dor have developed a special type of antiox breath mask, allowing them to travel away from their home planet of Dorin. These lightweight Kel Dor antiox masks are designed specially for Kel Dor respiratory organs, and are fitted with filters composed of Dorin isotopes. Thanks to these isotopes - as well as the unusual method of attachment - the Kel Dor antiox mask cannot be worn by a non-Kel Dor: the isotopes alone would likely kill any other being attempting to breathe through the mask. Non-Kel Dor often mistake these masks for insectoid mandibles or even gills. Kel Dor are also known to wear protective goggles in conjunction with their antiox masks. Jedi Master Plo Koon left Dorin for Coruscant to begin his Jedi training, and thus almost always wears his antiox mask. The only time he is free to remove it is in the safety of his pressurized quarters in the Jedi Temple. Plo Koon's niece, Sha, wears a scaled-down version of the antiox mask, designed to attach to a child's face. These antiox masks are more expensive than standard breath masks anywhere other than the Kel Dor homeworld, with most reaching two thousand credits apiece offworld.
