The Stereotype Click
The Stereotype Click represents the prejudged thoughts by which people label them. A direct product of their environments, all three members come with different perspectives on life and diverse Hip-Hop styles. The crew was formed by D.Mil, a production wiz, DJ, and beat maker. D.Mil grew up on Hip-Hop during its early days, influenced by his older brother and the whole Hip-Hop scene (St. Paul Wild Style Breakers). He is a certified surgeon behind the decks, bringing both the skills and expertise that's been polished painstakingly over the years. D carries Hip-Hop as a lifestyle and will forever create music.
Bronx native Paizon was also raised in one of the birthplaces of Hip-Hop, but followed his destiny and moved to the Twin Cities. Connecting with D.Mil in '95, the two began rocking parties together immediately. With the lifestyle he leads, he turns heads with his abstract rhymes and various smoked-out styles. On stage, Paizon represents pure intimidation as an MC with his strong, in-your-face presence.
ShawnSkie has been labeled as a natural; with him the flows never end. Involved with show biz at an early age, Skie has starred in such movies as "Lord of the Flies" and HBO's "Laural Ave.", as well as "The Sound Track". His freestyle skills and dexterity on the mic add to the style and charisma that makes STC a formidable presence in the Hip-Hop community today. Shawn has been rapping for over a decade and carries his rhymes like no other, bringing the crew to Stereotype Click.
Check for the Click's new CD, the "CHILDREN OF THE SNOW" ep, (full length this summer and vinyl coming soon), and Shawn Skie's new CD, "STREET SUCCESS".
BOOM!
Detroit based Pat Boom!, originally known as Master P.A.T. (Perfect Ass Talker), began rapping at Noble Junior High on The Motor City's West Side. By the time he entered Mackenzie High School, P.A.T. had built a reputation for being one of the tightest rappers on the scene. The oldest of ten children, his constant absences and bad behavior crossed the line one too many times, causing the talented rapper to drop out of high school. However, P.A.T. soon signed with Hip-Hop Records, a newly-formed Detroit-based record label, where he evolved from being just a rapper to a songwriter, producer, singer and arranger. He began producing for his new rap group DEMMO, and eventually went on to produce other acts such as the Rappin' Rascals & Sherrie on the same label.Conflicts with the law caused 'DEMMO' to disband after only a few releases, and the group never reached their full potential. P.A.T., having decided to leave music altogether, married, started a family, and found a job in welding and fabrication. He was only 19. Two years later he found himself not only separated and depressed, but broke and homeless as well. With nothing left, P.A.T. made his way to New York City and changed his name to Pat Boom!, hoping to revive his music career. In the Big Apple, things were even more difficult, as auditions were extremely overcrowded, so Boom! returned to Detroit.
Soon after, a decision was made to move again, this time to the Twin Cities, with the idea of getting his music started again. However, Boom! was quickly sidetracked by fast cars and money, and even faster women. After a brief stint in the Ramsey County Workhouse, Boom! got his act together and began producing and writing tracks for both himself and others. He released a CD with the DoubleTrouble Riders, started doing shows with SPStyle at nightclub venues in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and recorded at SHOTS RECORDING HOUSE and Angel Beach Studios. But Pat Boom! would not unleash his music onto the world for a few more years…
Now, Boom!'s full length CD "The Big Bang Theory pt.1" has arrived, a dope Hip-Hop and R&B infusion.
DAPO (Department Appointed Public Officials)
Originally known as the Phule Cirkle, DAPO (Gene Pool, Global, and DJ Francisco) were Twin City hip hop pioneers and played part in one of the first Hip-Hop movements in Minnesota. With other groups like Abstract Pack, Atmosphere, Beyond, and Native Ones, DAPO formed a collective called Head Shots, which later became Rhyme Sayers Ent. Doing hundreds of shows and opening up for the likes of Ice-T, the Liks, Funkdoobeist, Wu Tang and many others, DAPO were underground Hip-Hop kingpins. They have been linked to SPStyle since '98, doing shows and boat parties in Saint Paul and Minneapolis. They recently mixed their full length CD, Public Assistance (coming soon), with D.Mil at Shots Recording House, and the crew has three or four albums of still unreleased material. DAPO's live performance is like no other, and they have played at countless out-of-town venues in Iowa, Arizona, and Washington. They recently started their own production company named Fly Dro and set up a studio in Westbank, located in downtown Minneapolis.Expect much more from the talented DAPO in the near future, and check SPStyle.com for the latest in music and show information.
DJ Francisco
A Minneapolis native who has been breaking through since '95 with the Rhyme Sayers and Los Nativos, Francisco has found a home with SPStyle and his group DAPO (Fly Dro). He is arguably one of the Midwest's finest DJ's, opening for a laundry list of top headliners. Cisco has rocked crowds from the West Coast, the Midwest, and Mexico (with SPStyle and Paradise Parties in '01). When situated behind the decks, this turntable technician possesses mixing and scratching skills that would rival those of any DJ in the galaxy. Serving as a resident at Minneapolis' premier club, First Ave., Cisco's often astonishing performances are nothing short of spectacular.
When visiting the Twin Cities, be sure to check out DJ Francisco Saturday nights in the VIP room at First Ave., or at any SPStyle event.
