About Miss Walter
I started my life in Indiana, and after living by Notre Dame for a while my family moved to Texas.  When I started school however we had moved to Birmingham, Michigan.  I completed all of my education at the Birmingham Public Schools.

After attending Seaholm High School, I was able to study at another wonderful school, the
University of Michigan!  I enrolled in the school of education during my third year at the University, and loved working with all grade levels of students.  I especially loved helping students in upper elementary school and middle school.  After graduating with honors, I started my job search.

I'm sure I have found my fit here at
Clifford H. Smart Middle School, where I have been able to join two of my passions, mathematics and teaching.  My first five years went well, and I really enjoyed working with many wonderful students.

I have also recently finished my master's degree in Curriculum and Teaching at
Michigan State University.  In addition to a perfect 4.0 "report card" I also earned a certificate in technology use in education.

This past summer I became a part of the Galileo Leadership Academy.  I will be a part of about 80 teachers from around the Detroit area who will take part in classes meant to develop teacher leadership in order to help students learn better.  I hope to learn a lot and be able to implement ideas into our classroom and school.  :)
