| An explanation of the series: As some of you may have guessed, the title of this series comes from the Major Arcana, or greater trumps, of the Tarot deck. The Tarot deck is made up of two parts, the Minor Arcana, or lesser trumps, which are the predecessor of the modern deck of playing cards with four suits (wands, cups, swords, and pentacles or stars, which became clubs, hearts, spades, and diamonds over time) numbered Ace through Ten with four face cards (the page and knight, later combined to become the Jack, plus Queen and King), and the Major Arcana, which is made up of 22 cards numbered 0 through 21 and illustrate people, objects, and concepts, such as �The Magician,� �The Chariot,� and �Justice.� Some scholars of the Tarot, myself included, believe that the Major Arcana represents lessons and concepts that one learns throughout the course of one�s life, and this is sometimes referred to as �The Journey of the Fool� after the null, or zero card, which is the Fool. This series will follow the newly-souled Spike as he makes his way from Africa back to Sunnydale, and is structured around the cards of the Major Arcana. I�ll be trying to post at least one story every Tuesday, doubling up occasionally since there are fewer than 22 weeks before the new season (I hope!).
