First, naturally, I must give links to the two best Buffy and Angel sites on the net, run by the fabulous Angel X. Perhaps I've mentioned her before...
The Buffy Cross & Stake
To get a feeling for what goes on at the message boards for these sites (that's where the action is) check out Enigma's On-line Book- Enigmaisms and Beyond

Also, Max, leader of the Dark Side, an organization committed to the elimination of Riley Finn, has created a website to further that mission. (Remember, it's all in good fun)- The Dark Side Headquarters

Here are some of my other favorite sites:

NEW! The West Coast Review- Wwolfe's episode analysis of Buffy starting with Season 4, plus essays on other things of interest. I host some of wwolfe's fiction in Other Worlds, and he's a fantastic writer. This site is long overdue.

All Things Philosophical on Buffy the Vampire Slayer-
Run by Masquerade, this site has detailed analysis of the moral and ideological implications of every Buffy and Angel episode. Exhaustively researched and compiled and entertainingly written. Highly recommended.

Above the Law- Similar to Masquerade's site, Vox examines the legal and ethical implications of the Buffyverse. Check out the character analysis section. Highly recommended.

British Slang- Absolutely indespensible for writing Spike, Giles, and Wesley. Plus it's fun the throw around words nobody else knows.

Name Resource- Have a foreign character, or need to give someone a symbolic name? This is a fun site, compiled with fanfic writers in mind.

Mary Sue Litmus Test for Buffy and Angel- Is your original character a "Mary Sue," a character so obviously a fantasy extension of yourself that you should be embarrassed? Take this simple test and find out. And to give credit where it's due, the Original Mary Sue Litmus Test by Dr. Merlin.

Name Generator- Enter your character's sex, country of origin, and their first initial, and get the perfect name. The really scary thing? This site was intended to find names for actual babies. *shudder* Save it for fictional people...

Mighty Big TV
- Featuring very funny, highly detailed (and critical) recaps of both Buffy and Angel, as well as extremely lively discussion forums.

GLH's Fanfiction
- Another Cross and Stake "Refugee," GLH has set up an archive for his work until Angel X gets his back up, but check it out in the meantime.

AngelArtWorks
- A lot of artists do photo manipulation, but Meg is the master. Really beautiful and unusual images. Spike Fans- check out her Spike galleries in particular. Damn. Warning: Some adult content (not a lot). Be sure to read the warnings on the page.

Ten Feet from L.A.- The official website of the coolest band in Los Angeles. What does this have to do with Buffy? Not much, really, but this music rocks and this is my site. Includes MP3s.

Firechild's Films- FireChild is a good board buddy, and this is his business. Check it out.

Eliza Jane's Baby and Child Wear- Again, not much to do with Buffy, but this stuff is gorgeous! And very reasonably priced.

Adult/Slash sites-

In general, I don't recommend these for the average Buffy fan. Most of these sites are pretty explicit and definitely cater to a specific taste. However... I am archived at some of these sites, others are run by friends, and if you are a slash reader, these are some of the best.
Please don't go there if you're under 18, or are offended by explicit descriptions of heterosexual or homosexual sex.

Pointy Stakes- Slash by Mad Poetess with multiple collaborations with her partner in crime, James Walkswithwind. Mad Poetess is the writer who made me a Xander/Spike believer. Go. Go now.

Saber Shadowkitten's Fan Fiction
- BAD NEWS- Saber is no longer writing stories. *riff* But if you've never read them, they're still new to you. Pretty much every pairing imaginable, with tons and tons of Buffy/Spike stories. Everything from fluffy general audience stuff to dark NC-17 bdsm stuff, and all brilliantly written.

The Bring Back Doyle Homepage
- A catch-all for any fiction sites with Doyle stories, with an emphasis on Alternate Universe and slash. Keep the faith, my friends. Warning: Takes a long time to load. Please be patient.

The Power of Thre
e- A shared AU, where Angel and Cordelia bring Doyle back to life with sex magic. Not explicit, but rated R. As with any shared universe, the quality varies, but the re-writes of post-Doyle episodes are pretty good in general. Warning: Takes a long time to load. Please be patient.

Byer's Girl's Fanfiction Archiv
e- A nice, large collection.

Kate's Fanfiction Archiv
e- Modest but growing collection, with an emphasis on Holiday-themed stories.

Ficbitch.co
m- I suppose this was inevitable. Jessica and Donna (Kita) have combined all of their sites under one domain. Slashing the Angel, Days of Our Unlives, and many others can now be found here.
